Originality arguments and stock values aside the way I look at mine is that they are what they are. Someone is always going to be quicker and another is always going to handle better so why bother.
If I want 300+kw's and something that handles I'll go and buy a new HSV (or whatever) and not stuff around with 20 year old cars.

i own one , have done a few small mods to the car nothing major which will all be put back to stock in the next few months. A larger group of people appreciate the way they came out of the factory and to mod one me thinks you will be losing value on your car wether you like it or not.
its exactly up to you what you do with the car but most peoples opinions will be steering to keeping the car in its original condition. Mine will be up for sale fairly soon becasue the power bug (V8) has hit and wont be modding this car any further.

Pretty much need to check the paperwork to verify options as genuine ones could have been added at a later date and would be very hard to pick.

Mods depending upon what they are wouldn't stop me from buying it. Lack of space to keep it and the auto trans would be more of a deterrent but i guess that they didn't stop me buying the last two.

And the fact is there were many more monaros and gt's built then the LE turbo(53)
Rubin or Corsa- do you gents know how many LE HDT turbos were made in white?
And were the 16" momo stars the only wheels released on them??
LE Turbo's in white would be roughly yours and about 15 others.
The LE model had the 15" Aero as the standard rim with the 16" version optional along with the momo Stars in 7" and 8"(very rare) widths.

Seriously DO NOT MOD THIS CAR. You should do it to some POS cop car not an LE. They are far to rare.
Even if you did do mods, cut no holes, keep every part, and do nothing that is non reversable.
In a purist eyes the value it will loose is just not worth it. Youd be better of selling it for good dollars, buying a NA calais, modding it to the max and turn it into a mockup and have money in your pocket!

Totally agree. Factory cars are boring as shit
If the mods are done properly and not over the top you will still get the same amount as an unmodified one

This guy here, Vas, know's.
He's got a Silver HDT Sport that is good for a solid 10 second pass, yet it still keep's it's original flavour with it's standard exterior and interior.

yep he sure does know.. and its quick as hell... iv been in it when vas first purchased the car, back some time ago and my god every mod is well worth it..lol
but if u glance at it from the outside and inside its completly genuine.. and im sure when vas sells ( which he probably never will ) the car will still have its value.
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

yes spot on JETHDT, thats the plan to have the interior and exterior absolutely original looking, and under the hood just very mild mods, that at a later date can be removed and replaced with the genuine item, its great hearing from people like JETHDT and Corsa who give there honest opion and that can speak from experience thanks guys.

I own an old monaro coupe and it came without the original driveline. If it had have had the original stuff (matching numbers etc) then theres no way in the world I would have modified it.
Still I own a monaro and it is worth alot of money now. The modifications I have done can be reversed (its not going to have matching numbers anyway). But i would never tub it etc or do a mod that isnt reversible. I can enjoy my car without tearing it apart.
That said - if yours is quite original then leave it. When the time comes to sell and yours is worth $20k less because it has some slight mods I dont think you'll be laughing then.
You can go fast in any car - dont wreck an original. Who knows what itll be worth one day. The difference between a modified HO GT and an original could be hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Think about the big picture.

What I have said in my above post is an honest opinion. I have worked on a fair few original HDT's,HSV's, GT's, and Monaro's and the ones that command the most $$$$ and the most respect are those that are in extremely original condition or those that are meticulously restored. If it was mine I honestly wouldnt touch it as once the boost bug bites - well we all know what happens!

Honestly guys i cant see things like a cooler, exhaust and maybe a fuel system dropping the value of the car all that much, especially a custom no hole cooler kit. Once it comes time to sell i could get it back to standard quiet easily or even sell it with those few minor mods and just include all the original components with the sale of the car.

i cant see a modified LE losing 20k in value because of some mods considering thats about the going rate for the car.

I was referring to possible future values. Who ever invisaged a $3000 monaro 5 years ago being 10 times that price these days.
