Don't like whole narrowish tyres stretched accross wide rims look though, looks silly imo.
i like the fact that in japan heaps of "good" rx7 owners meet...
there was apparently some pretty wild sh*t at that meet, so many different styles of 7's, new and old..
and also atmo, dont u know why they stretch rims?

04-10-07, 16:54 GMT+10#45 not sure exactly why, but i'm sure the reason has something that would only benefit a race car, seeing as most cars that have it are mcdonalds car park specials and not real track cars.

mcdonalds car park specials ay?
i dont remember seeing ricers and them sort of crews doing it... mainly coz theyre retards with bling-styling rims..
pretty much 100% of the track cars in japan do it because its fullysick and they get to pickup young girls with it
nah, coz when a car is lets say... drifting or going around whatever corner the rubber/tyre "moves" (so to speak), which is bad, do u know what i mean? having the tyre stretched minimises that movement.
it also helps in when trying to fit 10" wide tyres...... which is what most imports can fit easily unlike our sh*tters
dont quote me, but thats off the top of my head why they do it.
but yeah quite a lot of ppl do it coz it looks cool in their opinion, and i like it aswell... full profile tyres with 'big walls' looks goofy..

04-10-07, 17:12 GMT+10#47 Here in Sydney, drift spec and JDM is worse than rice. You see far more gay drift spec wannabe's than riced up lancers etc.
Every second silvia owner reckons they are some kind of race track hero.

A ricer guy I work with said 'hey man I love your new rims man, fully drift style!'
I was like 'mate what are you talking about new rims?'
he said 'the Bronze rims on the front and the silver ones on the back! its what the drift cars have and it looks hectic'
I said 'you mean the silver rims on the back and the silver ones on the front covered in brake dust? :P'

05-10-07, 13:34 GMT+10#50 haha yeah how bad is it. Perfectly nice Work rims, coil over setups and carbon bonnets on stock cars with intercoolers and exhausts, that never see track time and have a big stereo in the boot usually anyway!

05-10-07, 13:56 GMT+10#51 I dont know how many people consider a beat up NA VL to be much of a drifter anyway..

meh
what one does with his/her car is their choice.
aslong as its not a riced/blinged up P.O.S with no-name-sh*t-japanese-brand-copies with no real "power" mods. I would prefer MAJOR engine mods before "major" exterior mods.
lets say if i had this car -
i dont know if i'd be too keen on taking it to the track for some "drifting", i would give it a go.. but im unco so i would suck. but i would take it to the drags a lot... not often u see 'hot' imports that look like that and go hard-as.
which is one of the reasons i love imports so much. the availability of so many different "off the shelf" rims, interior gear, front bars and rear bars, wider front fenders and rear fenders, SUSPENSION and sh*t etc etc from japan its not funny... if done right an import looks great and phat
because in all honesty, well in perth from what ive seen anyways, a lot of the genuinely good looking imports hardly get seen... and i rkn 90% of the imports on the road are sh*t looking and are mostly standard bar the rims and a fully sik exhaust (on an angle mind you lol ) and owned by "the race track hero" (ie - f*ckwit, knows f-all, etc) and chances are they wouldnt know what goes well or what looks good if their life depended on it... theyve just been watching too much of the (bullsh*t) "fast and the furious" movies...
...which are a disgrace to the import community and make it look like the thing we all hate, ricers, not to mention the tokyo drift one got me all pissed off because its utter bullsh*t like FFS its another americanised pile of brainwashing sh*t ... lucky my japanese friend didnt even know wtf it was, until some idiots at my work asked "hey do they do this and that blah blah".... she hadnt even heard of the movie lol thankgod
man im angry at the moment, again. fk'n fast and the furious, f*ck i hate it so much.
/end rant

07-10-07, 18:44 GMT+10#54 Over the weekend I got my Apexi Power FC in and tuned, put a set of 255/40 Advan Semi slicks on the back and got a frontmount kit which i spent all day today trying to *** figure out how it all went on, in the end i gave up and left it in the hands of my mechanic.....*** the 30 page instructions that came with the kit are *** useless.....hand drawn pictures!! and the worst instructions...so stupid and frustrating.
hopefully its all in by wednesday night so i can beat a 14.1

08-10-07, 11:10 GMT+10#57 Cool, if i was you'd change that in time though. A good cooler can do wonders for a turbocharged car. Let's be honest- this ain't no $4000 VL Turbo, the S8 RX7 is a serious bit of performance gear
