It was in the R33 GTR 400R, which probably made more than 400hp which was not legal in japan so i guess nissan had to pay some sh*t i'd probably prefer this motor aswell (instead of a RB26/30 which cant rev hard, then again it doesnt need to..), its much like a HKS/OS GIKEN/etc stroked engine, and it could rev past 9000rpm. wa wa wi wa! "The difference between this engine and a RB26DETT is that the engine is bored to 2771 cc which gives out 450 PS (331 kW) at 6800 rpm and 47.8 kgfm (469 Nm or 347 lbfft) at 4400 rpm. This engine comes with a reinforced cylinder block and cylinder head, metal head gasket, pistons with cooling channels, forged crank shaft, forged connecting rods, N1 turbines with reinforced actuator" siiik

Revs + Cubes = Power. aren't they semi-forged pistons in the 2j? I was under the impression that they had a lower silicoln content?

if this guy is new to the forums id be steering him away from vl's!!! lol. Money Pits!! if you have a lazy 20k then go rb20 lazy 50k go rb25 lazy 80k got rb30 lazy 100k go rb26/30 CAUSE THAT IS WHAT THESE MOTORS WILL END UP COSTING YOU IN THE LONG RUN!! everyone who gets in a stock vl.. gets the bug and decides they want to go faster then faster again then aster again!! before you know it your going a hell of a lot faster than you initially planned and have spent a hell of a lot more money than you originally planned.. im 100% sure no one will disagree here!! BUT DAMN.. THESE TOYS R FUN!! on topic. i have a soft spot for the RB30.. high tourque, can rev with solid cam, lifters and will make as much power for the street as any of the other engines that you can useand get down.

And they don't make 1000hp on stock internals these 2j's, internet hype that one. The record is a bit over 1000rwhp on a dynojet, but these are a non load type dyno unlike a dyno dynamics, Which means one run on a dyno dynics at around 650rwkw or halfwaydown a quarter mile they will spread thereguts all over the track, and the owners openly admit this, its all done as a wank. Typically around about 700hp real crank horsepower i think your on borrowed time, probally conrod wise first, might get 12mnths out of it though. And i can definitly see the point of view with not spending $5000 on a gtr motor and instead rebuilding the stocky, most Rb26 have big kms on them now and aren't to far away from running a bearing or cracking a ringland, theres 10 grand for a proper rebuild with rods right there+ the 5G starting point...it snowballs fast cheers darren Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Nope, a high silicon cast piston KIL 351 quotes are scary, they include getting absolutely reamed for labour thats for sure, and ****ing around a lot, the Rb25 will be more than a Rb30 the cams are alot more, as are valves, unless the rb30 is solid, even then it would be less Alos to note, these 2j record stocky record breakers, are never old japanese import motors or out of 94 supras, They are ALL later model VVTI 98 model american domestic motors that ALL have less than 10,000 miles (16,000km) on the clock, one owner babied cars before getting the works, not 50-100,000km + motors) and bought for the sole task of breaking stock motor records cheers darren
