I'm dealing wit the same problems to, want to get a vl for p's. I'm defiantly getin it. Cops arn't exactly the best at knowing there cars. My mates, mate got pulled over by a cop and he asked if why the car was making a dose he said he bought the car like that and they let him go. ANother time another mate got pulled over who has a passenger who was drunk they asked to see the does pipe and inter cooler, so the drunk goes 'its in the back man'. The cops yell ALRIGHT OPEN THE BOOT! lol so many dont even no what a turbo is, but still doesn't mean u won't get caught. Also the turbo can be hidden...

technically a VL turbo is under the 125kw per tonnes limit arnt they? another way u can get round the law is if your family only owns "high powered cars" my old man drives a HZ with a 308 and i cant drive it but because its the only "family car" i can use it so when i bought my VL turbo its another family car so i can get away with it, ive used that excuse heaps of times on coppers and it worked.lol. or maybe it was the same copper who thought the turbo was in the boot...............

L platers can drive any car for some reason......... i guess its coz they are under constant supervision.

No P Plater can drive a V8, Turbo car or High performance V6 on their P's after July 1st 2007. Power to weight laws still apply to those P platers who recieved their licence prior to July 1st 2007. Fines are $1100 and 3 demerit points if caught driving a car on the banned list, including the venerable VL Turbo. Plenty of L platers have been pulled over and defected while in VLT's. It just make's them more Hektik. Like Borat Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Yes and they have to be under .05. Ange (JETF18) was pulled over one night down the highway. Turns out he had a P plater sitting next to him. Don't know what the outcome was but I'm assuming it wasn't great. And Borat If I was the one who pulled you over, I would give you an EPA on the spot, for being a Hektik bum bag wearing white cap to the cieiling muzza

a mate of mine is buying a 05 monaro from a holden dealership (because they offered same price as private) and when they called for his details, he said he was on his p's, althou he is 20 they said, legally now they cannot sell him the car. Vicroads has now put a ban on dealerships selling v8's/turbos etc selling high powered cars to ANY p platers because the rules are apparently, even if you had your p's before that date you cannot buy and now drive a high powered car. Although it doesnt really stop people buying it privating but im yet to see if vicroads will have an issue with it.. Anyone else has this problem as my next car's another 8 but i cant be fucked with headaches if this happens even thought i have had my p's for 2 years.

Get a different car. Not worth the hassle. I love VLs but my age and my wallet didn't suit so thats why I got rid of mine.
