jack i see what u mean , i misread it to start with. but yeah , i upgraded bacuase i was able to, without it costing me a cent really. , not that i want to go faster , as i know i could have very easily gone faster with a gt30 still sitting in my bay. initially it was going to just be a plenum , moreso for asthetics rather than because my old one didnt work , cos it worked very well - power porting mate , its the way of the future but then a mate of mine was going to buy a kit off kyle , kyle talked him into buying my complete old setup , then kyle would throw a new one on mine for free basically. and at that stage i was going to run the mr turbo t66 and a jpc plenum etc and push my luck for big power etc , then another option came up to get the setup that is now on my car , i chose to do that as in reality it is a street/daily car , that im not afraid to drive all day everyday , rain or sunshine , do skids , have a blast on the highway etc. i know that a t66 and jpc plenum would have been very laggy , maybe not ridiculously laggy , but i consider fullboost at 4500 way too much for me. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Dont forget when you have a show engine bay the cops see every thing you have in there. Jase, I'll have a good think about it, when your ready to sell PM me and i'll put in an offer. Will the 550cc's fit my standard fuel rail? I'll be going to see JPC (possibly) once the new engine is in for a chat about my plans long term.... As for the Highmount V's Low mount discussion, I think I will go with High mount. I dont have any issue with Police attention at the moment (Wagon spec ) but It wont be that hard to change it back to stock. I think you and Jack have pretty much summed up that a GT30 is much better for an everyday driver compared to the 35/40. Thanks guys, 1 last question... Where's the real Jack gone? Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

so guys, what MPH have you heard of vlt's/cars reaching with a GT30? Andy what do you get?

charlie boy - i am good mates with a couple of import shops , did a bit of after hours work at one of them. jack - i did 125mph, but rev limit was 6k , with a 3spd , neutral timing , and not a great deal of power. rev it harder , retard timing for a bit more top end power , c16 and another 100hp i could be in the 130's id say.

ok sounds great Andy, i'd be stoked with anything over 120mph with the 5 speed

i went for the 30 for the same above reasons... makes full boost by 3000 roughly....very responsive 227rwkw at 14psi which is fun was spuin for a while why i didnt go the 35, but had to remeber that i was goin for every day drivability when i choose it... not massive hp or super fast times... will be tuned for 20 when put my EBC on it in next few weeks... see how it goes... cheers dale ps oh yeah that was with std low mount(internal w/g) and inlet manifolds with microtech and bigger fuel system Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

What boost can the 30's go up to? Is it really restricted by your current fuel system or you just dont want to boost it too much? Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

from what i have read, 22-25psi seems to be their peak efficency range. PS Yeti if you are concerned about response at all i would NOT be going back to a standard plenum, the main reason people use them is for increased response!

so you are saying that a custom plenum will make a setup laggier than a standard one would, generally??

wonder if you power ported the gt30 (both front and rear housings) if it would make it a bit more efficient without added lag?

i've thought about this in the past. Was thinking of making another thread on it. Roughly what kind of flow (hp) increase do you think it would net? Max? Min? How much does it cost? Where do you get it done? etc

do a search, i have writen heaps on my gt30 setup. you will NOT regret selling your mx7 while it's still in once piece and getting a 33 box, they are about $1700 now i think. As for turbo, it depends what you want out of the car, IMHO auto= 3540, man=3040. DO NOT GET THE .63 rear, it is WAY too small for a 3L motor. i run 18~20psi on the street, pump fuel, and well, there isn't much around that gets driven a lot that will go near you. As andy said, he has run a 10, i have run 11.9@121 on PUMP (street tires) on a old tune that only made 340hp, i have more top end now, 33 box (change quicker) and ~380hp, so should have picked up some mile. As for being more reliable.... it's a 3L making about 500fwhp, running a 30 or a 35 isn't going to make any difference to it.

Have you been able to find an answer regarding flow increase Jack? I will look into the R33 but It will depend on the re-sale value of my MX7. I just had it rebuilt so I wouldnt want to let it go too cheaply

If the mx7 is fresh i would hold onto it for now, its not like them r33 boxes are flawless

the r33 hasn't coped 20yrs of use/abuse though... or done the km's

Yeti's box hasnt copped 20 years of abuse, it's just been rebuilt!

well abuse i dont know about that, kms yeh, but he stated the box was rebuilt, i would much prefer a box that i know the condition of, either way them r33 boxes seem to crunch syncros with under 100k on the clock. guess its a luck of the draw thing with either box as long as its stick shift Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
