dont bother champ. as dixie said they handle like shopping trollleys. the few vls that i have driven well the last one was gmjets (no offence tim :P) just showed me how they handle... like a boat. if you want to drift get a jap car. off the shelf parts more stable. vls are for the straight black stuff. its what they are best at Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

its got nothing to do with the car like so many import enthusiats think. you can drift almost anything - it comes down to the driver. and then its how the car is setup etc - jeremy lake in SA drove a 308ci VH SL and was constantly in the finals and showing up clowns in jap imports set up with the sole purpose of drifting. obviously it is easier to start in a car that has decent suspension upgrades suited to the stupid sport.

yes it counts on the driver but im more talking parts availability. with the amount of time and money you have to spend to get it right wouldnt be worth it. i personaly see vls as drag weapons not drift machines. yes you can drift anything even a bmw :P Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

remember kids, drifting isnt just power oversteer, you gotta be sideways before the corner.a few of my mates drift regularly at winton, but you have to have no respect for your car to go well.

Oh VL's are great drift cars, mine is a dedicated drift car and has been drifting in the national drift series in NZ for 3 years, not this year I built up a VR clubsport to drift but im going back to the VL since it was so much better most of the suspension is custom made specifically for it some may remember the moaning going on about it in a much older thread because at the time it had a VR front on it, not now though

The reason why v8's are generally poor drifters are becuase the cars that they come out in either handle like an ocean liner at best, and have similar weights, or in the case of vl's, which have a semi-sort-of- modern suspension set up, way too much bodyflex. to get a vl to feel like an ae86 would require over ten times the money (bolger anyone???) it can be done, but people's definition of drifting needs to be clarified. An auto 1.3 litre ke70 can drift, dynamically, but doing a skid in a 5.0l, and or powersliding an 800hp vlt may not be. I have seen tony harrison in action, and it is pretty cool. i didn't like the vl on the sc dvd, it looked horrible, the line it took through corners, and its body roll/flex. it looked all over the place.

body flex is a lot more expensive to correct though. chassis dynamics can't be bought from a shop

if you don't have skills you need every bit of help you can, eg cars made to drift i went out last night and was linking corners better than the guys in silvia's r32's and ceffy's fitted with coil over etc, and all i had was my ******* arse 20 year old fe2's inthe front and pedder's sport riders in the back SKILLS people, if you got skills you can drift anything, if you don't, then make it easy for your self and by a car the doesn't take skill to drift!
