The only things I dont like about them is having to modify the dizzy and only being goup fire. Having said that, EMS has the ablity to wire in a bosch 4 wire O2 sensor and use a tune analyser. (works great) outputs can be configured to what ever you want, and it has true 3d tuning ablity. The quality of the ECU connector on the stinger is the same as microtech, and even looks the same.

i agree there is nothing wrong with microtech, never heard of cars havin trouble with them as i hav with other computers..about the rough idle ive seen cars go from one tuner to another to get a smooth idle,as is always its all in the tuner!

every computer will give someone trouble at one stage.. EVERY computer. Ive got a microtech in my vnss, i dont need a motec or anything more the microtech has done wonders for the car, more power and better on fuel i know once i do the head and other work and other stuff the microtech can handle it. I agree with 1stboostn, look at some of the quickest cars running them, good tuner makes the computer.

quote me if im wrong.. but rb30 is an old motor,... their cant be that much u can do with a computer to make it run that much better.. microtech i reckon can cope with all the needs of a rb30 where as some thing like a 2j.. maybe a different story

There ain't nothing wrong with microtechs its all in the hands of the tuner. Most of the quick vlts in nsw run em they can't be that bad....

The fact is that Microtech is great for a race car. It's cheap, easy to wire up and tune, and will produce the figures that customers demand. The problem is street ability, Microtechs are incredibly crude, even though they may have inbuilt functions such as cold start, air con compensation, power steer compensation, air temp + barometric compensation and all that- it is irrelevant, as they are not blessed with enough output drivers to control these functions at the same time as six injectors and however many ignition drivers. On paper they might have all the functions, but why do you think so many cars with Microtechs idle like **** on cold start? It's because they may only have a couple of drivers, which are taken up completely just through trying to give the vehicle fuel and spark- depending on the setup, often no extra outputs are left for 'street ability' concerns such as cold start, air temp compensation etc. And a lot of the time, the Microtech powered cars that do start well on cold start- idle like **** when they are really warm (too high etc) because once again, the computer may lack the spare output drive needed to accurately distinguish between hot and cold running temperatures- and the fuel required to do so. Also, obviously the inclusion of closed loop lambda control is pretty important to any street car- I’m not sure about the newer Microtechs but I’m sure the older ones lack this ability. Fun the first time you get **** fuel or a hot day Just my 2c Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

When I think of 'incredibly crude' I think of the Digi-5..................

Compared to something like say the new Wolf v500 with 24 user definable outputs- i think it's safe to call the things crude.

hahah just found this thread, i have been reading into ECUs alot as i am in the market, so far i think i have come across allmost every ecu has a tendencey to just "loose maps" yet i have no proof of any actual ecu loosing a map. i think its all just a bunch of wankers that get a certain ecu, get it tuned by some random **** and ends up blowing there motor.. i for one am going to get a LT10s for what i want they are perfect, and you cant get anything cheaper..

LET ME TELL YOU WHATS WRONG WITH MICROTECH!! it doesnt have launch control!! so when you try and drop that transbrake off the tree your pushing shi/t uphill.. its like most other computers that make you sit at the line for 5sec+ to get boost then go.... SOme ecu's have the ability to spoole up a turbo instantly like a v8 and heads up racing is possible.. Its all about winning against the guy beside you!! Just my 2c yes perhaps but when my car *was* running, when it had the RB30ET and a rajab built motor (so i dont know what kind of cam it had, but it was fairly lumpy n crappy), it idled like poo when i tried to start it... and i was running a MOTEC, supposedly the "bees-knees" especially for "street cars" the MOTEC could probably have been better, but whatever really, horses for courses i would beleive. in all honesty how much worse can the ltx12 be on start-up......... aslong as it doesnt take longer than a few minutes im going to be pleased :P lol i dno. I'm no Motec groupy, and i'd never personally buy one- but when properly tuned and in proper working order vehicle (no air leaks etc), they will idle very nicely on start up. They should be nice and quiet as well on downhill decents etc compared to a microtech which will overfuel hard and be popping etc- it's just a more advanced system. Did yours have stepper idle Genki? I'm not actually sure about the LT12 though, i think that might be a more advanced system than the other microtechs? Do you have the specs?

Microtech DO have Fuel cut on Decel, RPM just needs to be below 2000 from memory which you'll find is probably similar to most ECUs out there............................................. ... A lot of the rotor guys probably think its cool to blow big flames and probably dont have this feature active.

It was an M4... i cant wait to get the microtech wired up and tuned, hopefully well but atleast i'll be able to see how each of my ecus have run, albeit on different engines... so the comparison will be quite irrelevant Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
