Ive got both my cars insured with shannons and it's great. Due to both of them being insured, my overall cost is less as well. I insured my VL at the price that i wanted, sent them photos and was done, no questions asked. Shannons also has pay by the month, but unlike other insurance companies, there is no extra cost. The benefits i have with full comprehensive is very impressive and any changes that has been made to my policies was done over the phone straight away and the new paperwork arrived to me some 3 days later. Overall ive been very happy with them. But then again, I don't know what age you have to be considered.

hey people, i know this thread is a lil old, but i just got messed by Vigil. 6 months ago they were fighting for my business and now that i am ready to move over to them, they tell me "sorry you are under 30". so i read the PDS and it states: "Drivers must be over 25 years of age unless otherwise agreed." what the hell is "otherwise agreed."?? also in the excess section, it has a section for drivers under 21. i intend to ring them tomorrow to figure it out but between now and then, if anyone could shed some light, it would be appreciated. Cheers.

I rang Vigil a few years ago and they wouldn't insure me, Shannons wouldnt but they said to go with Just Cars for 1 year, and once Ive had 1 year without a claim/suspension with them, then they would offer me insurance. So I went with Just Cars, my last hope, fat load of help they were, only thing they were good for was taking your money.

Just cars are fine. I pay about $1,100-1,200 for full comp. I have a VLT.

Hey I'm currently shopping around for insurance myself. Got finance, but bank wants me to have full comp cover arranged before they'll pony up the cash. Talked to Just Cars - for a modified VLT - $1265 - I'm 30, NEVER had any claims, accidents, fines, etc. Did the same online with these tools and it was $1065 - still pathetic. Talked to Vigil and they reckon around $1100. Talk about a massive load of horsesheet. I had full comp cover on a fully imported MR2 turbo when I was 23 that was $1500. So much for having a spotless record. Might as well have run a few people down, got stoned, drunk, poked out one of my eyes and driven everywhere with my bare arse out the window singing the Taiwanese national anthem.

Vigil are absolutely useless. I eneded up speaking to a Senior person in assessment and he pretty much said "we dont issue high risk vehicles" no offence, but most vl's could be broken into with a plastic spoon! anyway, i went back to just cars, and they gave me a better rating, better agreed value and a better premium. sometimes its better the devil you know than the one you dont.

i would usually agree with you, but this time they have come through for me - even though they are just another money hungry insurance company.

give shannons a call to see what they say. im with them now, $25K agreed value for my vk, $1200 a yr.

shannons are adament that you must be over 25 years of age. Also, they prefer the more classic or unique cars. I dont think an SS or everyday run of the mill vl turbo fits that category.

Man if you are 30, try Shannons. Ive listed everything i have done to my car (VL V8), which is motor (including what stroke it is, manifold, heads etc), exhaust, gearbox, diff, wheels, interior etc, i have it insured for limited use which works out to be once a week and it ended up being under $1000. Of course with that cover you can drive it more than once a week, i mean if you have more than 4 accidents per month you shouldn't be behind the wheel anyway.

I reckon sometime you get different quotes when you call up the same company 3-4 times...has happened to me in the past!

what i gathered about Vigil, is that some of their assessors were just insuring anything with wheels. according to the guy i spoke to, that is the reason they have had a staff change. was funny, he said they like to insure people with wrx's and as i stated above: "dont insure high risk vehicles". haven't wrx's been used in ram raids?
