Heres a pic of what a melbourne taxi looked like back in 1996-this is for you VL GRA lol.I guess this is what you meant by the optional bubble on the roof. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

are u sure the gts-r colour was based/copied from the colour of melb taxis? cos i thought melb taxis only started being yellow around the vs/vt time.. before that they could be white, etc so i was just trying to figure out the time differences??

Thats a good question but i've checked my build plate and mine is 2 1996 which makes it a VS model.Would be nice if we could get some solid info to back up the claim of the GTSR being based on the taxi shell. Its got me fascinated.

I remember going to melbourne motor show when they had the gtsr on display. Everyone was all over it as hsv hadn't produced anything special since the walky. I remember at the time it was called the taxi as it was the same colour. They had just started making the taxis at the same time in that colour. Before that they were white. Better then being orange like up in qld. I remember at the show me and my mates thought it looked crap. I only started really liking them about 3 years ago. I too would love to have 1 to match the walky!

I was the same with the Walkys-never liked them in the magazines till my Dad bought his in early 1990's but i have always liked the GTSR's.I must say though after driving the GTSR lately and jumping back in the Walky you appreciate how far technology has come in 8 years-like cruise control and trip computers lol. Also wouldn't mind having the 6 speed in the Walky especially on the highway. Here are some pics i took when i went for a jaunt up the north coast last friday.Beautiful weather-shame about the gridlock traffic on the way home through brissie, should've known better. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Looks great, Still reckon the VS model was the last of the good lookin HSV's. Loved the GTS-R when it came out. All my mates thought it looked like ****, Must admit, like the walky, it looks better in the metal than on paper. Cheers

I thought about buying the fake one from NSW but then an original one came up for sale here in QLD.But i must say the BANANR one looks like the real deal from the outside and ITS5.7 has informed me he saw it up here a month ago cruising around. Here are some pics of the fake one. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
