^^ yeah i hear ya.. i once saw a yellow bt1 that was literally battered.. it was being used as a family car by a bunch of yobbo hicks in the outer burbs of melb.. garbage lining all the floor, ripped seats, battered panels, keyed, rusted, badged, everything, literally raped in every sense, and while it made me sad to see it (and F KN angry too) i couldnt help but think how cool it would be to get my hands on it and fully restore it....

I look after it though and get up it sometimes, but as far as doing burnouts and stuff in it, I don't do it (With the expection of a small screechie). I agree mate. To alot of people they're just an old Commodore, driven by young d***heads, but they don't realise that people actually like and take care of these cars. What I find sad is, that there's newer cars in worse condition then VLs. Like I said before, both of my mate's VSs have blown up and have 10 years on VLs. Actually one has rust appearing worse then my VL. So it's really the way you look after them, because I guarentee a thrashed out, rusted VH or VK would be sh*tloads worse then a VL. As long as they are looked after they are probably the most popular Commodore,20 years old this year and are still a cult classic, the 67yo spazza next door says he 'wants my space ship' just give it a polish and its all new again, freaky.

Everyone is into different cars. To us riced up silvia's n others are terrible and the owners should be shot, but they are no different to us. They like the car and are enthusiasts, so in the end it only matters if you like it or not. You dont buy a car and modify it to suit others do you?

You can thank Nissan for that VL is really not a Australian car when you think of it the Calais is a German Opal design while the drivetrain is Japanese just imagine if the VL's used a VK black motor or buick engine LOL Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
