You should (i believe) be able to ask them where in the last 30 days, or when in the next 30 days thier resonable grounds argument comes from. Type it up, and ask for it when you take the car in. They might just show you thier traffic report, or similar and note that they suspected your car to be un-roadworthy. But i would definately ask on what grounds, and when the car was spotted. If you werent actually where they say you were, you have grounds to contest it in court Its just a bit of added paperwork for the pr|cks that they wont wanna do even if they did legitimately spot you driving along. Either way they would have HAD to write a report on it. Sadly it isnt good news, you will have to go down there. I'd certaily ring the officer mentioned and ask for what i stated above. If he cant provide it, talk to a lawyer. Hope it helps. If anyone ever needs help like this, more than happy to do some basic homework for the finding of the laws, subsections and thier interpretations. I aint no legal expert, i've just been ****ed around enough to have a passion for helping others against the law cheers this bloke is on the money, ask them for what grounds they are on. these pigs booked me and tried to do me for 6 months with a 1k fine for speeding and I was like thats it and paid a lawyer and got it downgraded with a minimal fine. they hate fronting up to court. take them to court for it before u go any further and often they will just drop it. they wont be able to fine u because u are contesting it in court so they wont be able to make u pay the $500 fine until u loose in court and then miss the deadline for taking your car for RWC. do that or take the motor out. and say sorry mate u cant do **** all. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

take it there on a car trailer, saves you a fine for using an unroadworthy vehicle, not being driven at the time of inspection = no fine. and dont take the ramps for the trailer with you so u cant remove it... i did these things a few years ago when a tmu officer wanted to see me at frankston, went there with my dad. face it, cop the canary, do an engine swap and clear it, then dump all your good gear back in... i cant think of another way around it sorry to say champ if anyone has a better idea then let me know coz i need one for future reference lol.. i keep a spare n/a engine here just in case i ever do get canaried.. no doubt i will 1 day Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Is it true you cant get epa'd if you live more than 50kms away from McLeod testing station? Whatever you do Curtis don't let them see your engine, if 5 cops go over your car thats 5 cops that will remember your car and hound u later on.

In the end if you take it to court thats another problem. If you take it you risk losing alot more than $500 dollars because you have to pay for a good lawyer which it going to be $500 minimum and then the end result the judge will hear from the cops will be that you are driving a car that is illegally not complying with epa and rw regulations in this state so in the end the police will still be giving you a nice big canary and also if they can prove you have dont things such as punched out cat converter and no pollution gear and show pics to a judge of all of this you may just risk getting a $5000 fine for not complying with epa standards alone on top of your canary and any other associated costs. In the end its up to you but who do you think the judge will beleive somebody who they will portray to be a menacing trouble making hoon or an honerable member of the law. Your choice.

one of my mate got a letter like that. it was a vk pulled the injected v8 out and put a standard 6cyl in with standard exhaust ect and got away with it. so id just pull exhaust man off run a na exahaust. take cooler off run the standard na air box. as 4 inlet manifold if it is the standard turbo 1 leave it on it will still run. then see how you go. and of course put standard wheels on. Probally to do with the new hoon laws..

You dont wanna go lying. you will end up in more **** than you can handle. All it takes is the police to ask local residents if they have seen the car being driven in the last 2-3 weeks... if 3-4 of em say yeah... your going to be well toasted.

yeah dont stuff around numbers (engines, chassis) thats what they will be checking!! Best bet, make sure you have a cat convertor, borrow a mates to3 highflow and cross over pipe, all emission controls in place (they are expecting a turbo, dont go n/a or they'll be sus). Disconnect cooler.. dont worry about computer if they pick it.. they pick it.. I doubt they will. Stick some standard injectors in, and take it down to breciani for a tune, stick a plate in the exhaust to make it quiet.

hmmm this is a crock they can just send letters and you have to show up for a test that load of ****. and may i ask do any of the photos of your car on the site that have the no. plates visable ? im so dodge that they view this site and get plates then send out letters i think we sould all put in for a N/A conversion kit and just share it round when needed.

haha phil that made me laugh that sucks dude, sound like your stuck between a rock and a hard place... if u take out your engine and put another one in they may find out, but if you dont do sumthing your surely gunna cop something.. try for an extention and say that you tried calling twice and both days the officer wasnt there and you didnt know what it was for.. it may buy you some extra time so u can decide the best way to do it. good luck mate

whats wrong with putting the n/a engine in (if you get turned down for the 30 days thing) goto vic roads tell them u got a new engine and show them the engine numbers (this is free so no cost to u) even if the cops go whats going on just say this car used to be turbo it blew up a long time ago so i got no idea what u guys are talking bout. if you have any hols get some silicon some thin alloy play cut it to the shape of the panel u cut into silicon it down and say its just decorative, or place standard air box over the hole

Apparently they are training the cops to look for these holes and to see if they have been welded up and bogged over and even if they have they are going to ask for an engineers certificate for the welding job and an engineer wont give a report on work that hasnt been done by a professional. Damn pricks they are. There's nothing new about the cutting holes crap. I got a canary about 5 years ago, i had cut a large section out of the inner guard and welded in a plate in a different shape over the pipe, it didn't look good... Anyway i had to take off my cooler and get a quailfied welder to weld in a piece cut from another vl, or get an engineers cert... i did the welding and was very lucky there was only a chick at vic roads that looked at it. She basicly said she didn't know if it was ok but signed it off anyway! I had to leave it unpainted aswell. That letter really sucks, i'd go with changing to n/a, make it legit as possible. You only need to have proof the engine you've fitted isn't stolen, a receipt from a wreckers and change your engine no. over then. Or front up, get a canary, maybe cop a fine for driving an unroadworthy car (prob not a huge fine), and have to change to na anyway to pass a roadworthy. That gives u more time at least and maybe u'll get lucky??

curtis: borrow my car... my car has been stolen, so the VIN and engine numbers have been scratched off, and now have sarrogate numbers. put your plates on my car, stamp your vin numbers on a plate and stick it on the firewall... ps. no idea if it will work :P pps. word on the UHF is that the TMU are reaming all along the moorooduc, around frankston and back and forwarth. using both the red SS and a silver commodore (i assume another SS). these cars are going back and forth, so if u have been there lately id say thats where u have been done.
