The humble HSV isnt in the same league as the cars it is compared to. For what it is, its an awsome car. Yes there are faster and more powerful cars with better handling out there, but they are more money.

the one thing i dislike about them is the rear tailights, but like the VT and VY, i HATED the rear tailights on the VY but now i love them, so i think they will grow on everyone... but if they had the VY Tailights in the back they would look good, but they wouldnt be a VE anymore.. theyd be a VY with a new front... like the VT-VX..

I think the R8 and GTS look really tuff while the Senator looks really nice and sleek. Good job HSV!

theres no really good looking pictures, there all taken from dodgy angles... i want a picture that is of the front, back and sides.... that way you could get a real feel for how it looks

So how long until tyre prices drop? Looks good Gts without the wing in black would look awesome Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

And yes, there was nothing wrong with that, because their performance was very similar. This is why I'm pissed that the GTS has only 410hp..... the GTS has always had the same power as the M5..... except now. Which SUCKS.

Geez mate you take this stuff pretty seriously dont you.. Who cares, its the first model of a new shape. Im sure plenty of people were pissed when the VT1 GTS came out with 220kw and still an aussie 5ltr basic engine (i know it was a stroker). Give it 2-3 yrs and im sure they will have some 350KW engine in the GTS. I guess they just wanna get the new shape/car down pat and familiar before they start mucking with engines.

I'm just a HSV fanboy, and am annoyed that the GTS is falling behind world standards in terms of power, when before, it was right up there. But at least interior and ride/suspension quality has gona up a helluva lot and has gained closer ground to BMWs and Audis....... although still not quite there

yeah but mate look at the price difference. No holden will ever come close to a BMW or an audi ever. Not in engines, handling, inteiors and in build quality especially. The only place they would come close to BMW is in outright power and that only out right power im talking about. BMW engines are so much better in everyother way. Im seriously waiting to see how long holden/GM can keep on producing **** engines, where the only way they can make more power is through more displacement not through technology. Seriously, how long can they be using a boring old pushrod V8 for espcially with fuel prices the way they are heading.

My old man might be getting a really good deal on a VE Clubsport R8 since he has a VT Clubsport and a VX Clubsport, we're going to go on Sunday to have a look Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

the massive price difference is because BMWs and Audis are imported and therefore slapped with an arse-load of taxes. Minus all taxes and import costs, the Audi A8 W12 would be almost half the price its going for here now. Its $326,000, but is only worth ~$170,000 Dunno why people are complaining about adding more displacement these days...... most Euro companies are doing V10s and V12s...... 7L V8 and a 5.5L V12......... they're just opting for more cyclinders over capacity.... I could say 'I wish the Audi could stop producing crap engines, where the only way they can make more power is through more cyclinders.....' The chevy V8s are great. LS7 is famous for it relativly good fuel economy. 7L, yet still small in physical size I've heard of figures around 650hp with fairly minor mods, aftermarket potential for large capacity, simple engines is fantastic Not to mention all these newer refined German V engines dont sound anywhere near as good (some AMGs sound damn nice though, to be fair) as a good old large yank 8. And GM has a non-pushrod V8....... the Northstar, its a great engine used in Cadillacs. ......... but even that needs to be supercharged to produce high figures...... and the Caddy CTSV has gone for the pushrod LS2 anyway. But anyways, I'm not saying HSVs/Holdens are better than their euro counterparts, because they're not, obviously. Just dont think that the gap between them is so large though. Its a big gap, but its nowhere near as big as I hear some people think it is. The leather seats in the Holdens are among the most comfortable in any car around the world, their interiors are the best of GM (ie, better than Cadillac or Saab), the new 6 speed auto is hailed by auto journalists from all over the joint, and so far, I've heard very good things about this MRC suspension setup in the GTS and Senator. that was long :| off to bed I think..... that all probably wont make sense in the morning

SilvaWags now ur talking my language, there is no way u can compare these with euro's.. the stats show numbers but the m5 is the only engine to win best international engine twice and can beat a ferrari too... its not about how much power you can put at the rear wheels but the technololgy and specs throughout the car and there is nothing that comes close to euro cars.... the new porsche bends the boundaries of physics it's fu*king amazing.... im not saying the hsv is sh*t lol i was looking to buy an 1999 r8 and my bro drives an ss i think there are growce

All you guys concerned about power figures, please grow up After you’ve driven one, than start talking….. You’ll be surprised at how hard it goes, even if you give it 100% throttle at 200kph it still moves BTW: Theres a VE documentary on CH9 this Saturday (26th Aug) at 4pm Also keep an eye out for a new VE GTS driving around in the new dark gold colour with plates HSVMRC. New colour looks alright. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
