"Genuine Nissan OEM lifters" still making noise

Would all this still be the case if it's just one lifter making the tapping noise? I mean, if the machining was done to incorrect measurements, wouldnt it be even across all 3 cylinders under that lifter housing?

just check it, wont take long, then you can rule that out, if it looks ok, remove rocker shafts and press in all lifters, if one squashes with finger pressure, that one is not getting oil or is faulty.

So they can also be depressed by finger pressure if there isnt oil in the lifter? I thought that only happens if they're faulty...

maybe the reason you think only one lifter is noisey could be faulty or no oil to lifter blocked passage or valve height installed might be uneven all depends on how the seats cut and installed so becarefull and have a good look if you take the cover off

How would I know how the seats have been cut by taking the rocker cover off? Is it common for brand new lifters to be faulty?

SYKOVL, I think you should take the car back to the place that did the work, or pay for the work to be inspected and fixed by someone else.

^^Agree 100%, dont get fed the same sh!t about running them in and having to rev it hard to make the noise go away...you paid him to do a job that obviously isnt done correctly...dont feel bad man going back to ask for what you paid for! If he fires up he's a ***n tool and there are ways you can deal with this type of sh!t legally if need be. A summons to attend Small claims court works good from my own experiences...haha.

Many of you may know but nobody has mentioned that a good engine rebuilder can reface and repair genuine lifters. Had mine done when the engine was rebuilt and only cost me $70 for all 12. Before they were done a couple of them were really noisy but not now. They are absolutely dead quiet and are all genuine. Why buy aftermarket sh*t when you can just take in a 2nd hand genuine set and get them rebuilt! And the main problem with aftermarket lifters is not noise or tapping, but they generally begin to get surface damage on either end as they are not as hard as a genuine Nissan lifter! I have seen 10,000k lifters thrown in the bin generally with a cam for company. Just not worth it!

I pulled the rocker cover off and one set off rocker arms/lifter housing, I checked the lifters by trying to depress them by hand and they didnt. They seem to be new which coincides with my quote, they dont have a Nissan symbol on them but I think that's because they're not actually made by Nissan, but rather some other company in Japan (I think). Upon visual inspection the cam and lifters still looked like new so I dont think they're causing any damage cos of them being of substandard quality (compared to genuine)... Not sure what else to do.

Just not worth it! can u get current lifters rebuilt? ie - for example the ones sitting in my engine right now? why would u buy a 2nd hand one? :/

Most engine builders can do them for you! Once a lifter is used it is second hand isn't it If your car was a daily or doesn't have genuine lifters in it, you could go to the wreckers. Pull out a set and get them refaced and rebuilt. Some lifters may have to much wear to rebuild but you can pick em up for next to nothing these days. Then for an hours work on the weekend you can change them over! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I only took off the lifter housing for cyls 4,5,6 but I rotated the cam so the front 3 were on the base circle and I pushed down on the end of the rocker arm of each lifter with a lot of strength and they didnt depress at all. I started it and it wouldnt tap at the start but then after a few mins it started again. I think thats how it was before but never noticed. Anyway now its misfiring so I'm pissed off. I probably ****ed the lifter that I dismantled and reassembled.
