14-06-06, 17:56 GMT+10#41 guys, get you locks re-keyed.
most of the time the locks arent completely stuffed,
the brass wafers are what wear away allowing anything to open them, these get replaced when re-combinating them
any locksmith can re-combinate the locks and you can also have it changed to a different key if you think the guy you bought it off is a bit dodgy.
this means both doors, ignition and boot.
taking them out yourself and taking them in will save you a bit of cash.
these locks are great when re-done and are some of the hardest car locks to pick.
also, the solex locks are crap. dont bother with them.the original locks are better

20-06-06, 13:50 GMT+10#46 The best way I've found came about completely by accident. The old lady I bought my VL off had arthritis in her wrist and couldnt turn the key in the barrel properly to crank the car over. So she had some auto sparky rewire the ignition to a push button (Honda S2000, new Falcon GT style). The button is just underneath the steering column. So you jump in the car, turn the key to "ON" and then hit the button, and off she goes. None of my mates have ever been able to work out how to start the car without me telling them.
I'm also of the school of the padlock under the T-bar. But then again, my VL is pretty much stock and two-tone panels thanks to a meeting with a roo at 110kmph resulting in different coloured nosecone. It'd be a desperate theif that stole my car, but I suppose most of them are. They normally just syphon my fuel...
