if your going to run choped springs, make shore you attach them to the lower control arm with some thing. as i had a cut spring come out at 160kph comming over a hill and that scared the **** out of me.

Thats to do with your shocks being too long. The biggest issue with cut springs is they still have the same absolute travel but cant go as far due to the shortened length, and the fact every time they compress on big bumps your car will hit the ground.

You can also shorten the rear bump stops to improve travel somewhat! I have done it with mine and with my 3 inch custom rears I have an ultra smooth ride! It doesn't break your back like most lowered cars will!

My friend I drive my car everywhere! I have spent a fair bit of time setting up the susp in this car for looks, handling and comfort. The springs are all custom made ratings. The shocks are all shortened to suit as well as having every nut, bush and rubber replaced throughout! I can guarantee you this will out handle and turn most VL's on the road. And yes it will scrub in a sveverly hard turn or if you have 3-4 people in the car but most of the time there is only 1-2 so I dont care. You will get a VL to scrub on STD FE2 springs. Have done it many times. You will never stop it scrubing under high corner load!

Chopped springs are bad, but having shockers that do not match the new height of your car are worse. You should always change the shockers to ones that are shorter if your are lowering your car. I had a customer come in with chopped springs and standard 15y.o shocks and the ride was not only dangerous but very very crappy. Everytime there was a bump or pothole in the road, the spring would rattle in its locators and i was truly scared for the customer incase the spring did fall out when he was taking corners hard. IN short, match your springs to the shock length/height and you will have a good ride. If you lower your car with a live axel rear suspension, the diff will move to one side and potentially scrape one tyre onto the guard. An adjustable Panhard Rod will be needed so the diff can locate back to centre. Ive got a few combos in the pipeline for VLs for both drag and street as well as complete overhaul suspension for vb-vs and onwards Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

When you guys lower your cars does the word "comfort" ever come to mind. Or just how fully sik it is to have it on its nuts, to fit the muzza profile?

Handling and performance comes before comfort anyday imo.

Being that low I cant see how it could improve "handling" when your being thrown around in the car quite a bit. Seriously there is suspension there for a reason and its not to make your car pretty....

chopped springs are "ok" to drive with, they arent great and they certainly arent for performance but they sure as hell aren't undrivable, i own a few sets of springs -Stock -King Spring Lows -King Spring Ultra lows -King Spring Ultra lows (recompressed right down) -Stock chopped 3 or 4 coils And honestly the ride with the choppies is no worse than with the recompressed ultra lows, my car never bounced or anything of the like with choppies in the back (calais) and i never found them to be dangerous after 12 months of driving every day. When the car is back with the big motor i wont be using them however as i understand that they will make it harder to make traction compared to regular lowered springs. I find most people who bad mouth chopped springs haven't owned them for long if at all and havent owned a wide range of springs personally. Then again i'd never run choppies up front, ever, in my experiece the swaying/bounce is just so dangerous.
