That said, if your interested in doing a blown Chev, let me know.. .i have a Vortech blower and bracket here to suit one
if fuel is a concern, put the chev on gas.. keep the cam mild and she'll get decent economy... piss easy and u can still run the blower and still make the same potential power.

The corolla already has a V8... huge stall... etc... To go further is alot of money... just seeing what my options are if / when it sells as to whether to do my HQ... or find something else.
Its all just for ideas at this stage, nothing serious.

15-01-06, 16:22 GMT+10#44 to run 10's in a hq with a holden engine for 10k,while yes its possible, your gunna have to stinge on good parts.. and stick with cheaper stuff - and lose reliability.
Realisticly, 530-550hp is going to be the goal, and making that much power on pump fuel is really stretching it, and certainlly wont be done for the budget you have.
Step up to Avgas or methanol and it becomes a bit easier, and you might just get there with the money you have to spend.
Its going to need to be a stroker... so theres 1200 for a crank
Heads are going to have to be VERY VERY decent, and will need 2.02 and 1.6 Valves, and a ****eload of port work... bye bye best part of 3k.
That sort of power is going to need revs... and prolly up wards of 7000rpm. So the bottom end will need to be up to the task, studded and H-beams at the very least.
You'll get away with ACL Race series pistons, and a rebuild kit can be had for 700 odd inc a set of pistons/rings.
Intake/Carb etc is gunna aorund the 2k mark..'
As you can see, the money dries up quite quickly.....
Add some gas into the equasion, and it might become a bit easier, and allow for you 3000rpm convertor and tallish gears... you'll get back some drivebility also.

Because myh problem was no low down boost... it didnt make 2 psi until 4400rpm.... thought about smaller pulleys, but belt slip was already an issue.
And i like my stock Fuel economy... so.. i bought a turbo

A mild cammed chev, with a blower wont run 10's... especially not on lpg..

how does a turbo provide any better economy than a charger???

how do u figure??? theres 10 second lpg falcons, "little" 4litre 6 cylinders, a chev n/a should be capable of a high 11 or 12, blower should put it into the 10s with ease... and has, as was on the haddad hq/vl... 10.6 i think it did, very basic combo and very small cam tho it was a holden.

15-01-06, 17:53 GMT+10#50 sinister.. lpg falcons in the 10's yes... with turbo's that makes boost alot earlier then a blower...
When i said economy i meant in regards to convertors and short diff gears etc.
Haddad's HQ had a small cam? From memory it was a Crane 272 Solid wasnt it? Not exactly Small. Not to mention the amount of boost they were screwing in, and or the convertor and gears being used.

a low 12, high 11 sec HQ on LPG is going to be FAR from mild, and if you think its not you kidding urself.
How many small block HQ's do you see in the 11s? That are street driven? id hazzard prolly 1 in 100 of em..

15-01-06, 18:00 GMT+10#52 not sure how it was setup on the hq, when it was in the vl i got the specs right here
3.7 gears, 3600 converter, 12psi from the s-trim, 674hp @ 6200rpm.
10.56 @ 129mph on "street slicks"
cam is a hydraulic but it doesnt say the specs, its def small, ive been right next to the car and like i said b4 its the biggest sleeper going around, u cant even hear the blower or have a clue the motor has any unsual GO until the pedal is smashed

15-01-06, 18:06 GMT+10#53 when haddad had the blower on his chev it was the noisiest mofo out

15-01-06, 18:06 GMT+10#54 sorry mate, i dont believe that for a second.
Too Start with a Strim would not even go close to making 670HP, and especially with 12psi of boost.
A Trim, yes, i would believe.
Im not guessing either, ive got a fair bit of experience with vortech blowers...
Its just no possible. Sorry. 550hp would be max, perhaps 580.
As far as the cam lump, you wouldnt pick what cam is in it, that the beuty of blowers, the make a lumpy cam smooth.

does it really matter? gas/blower/turbo all forced induction buddy. It is illegal to use gas on the street but it only really matters what happens at the track. Run a 10sec pass on the street and get caught your ****ed whether u use gas/turbo/blower to do it. So if gas is cheating, being a form of forced induction i guess turbos and blowers are cheating also. Maybe we all better go back to running n/a hey?

15-01-06, 20:32 GMT+10#59 I think that he and I meant that nitrous is like an additive and you cant run it on the street. a 'true' ten second street car isnt exactly that if it reels off a 12 without nitrous.

16-01-06, 15:26 GMT+10#60 Sinister; you say 6/71's are outdated, would you say the same about their big brothers? ie; 14/71's used on Supercharged Outlaws.
