Ok here is my 2 cents on most thing car audio. Alpine subs suck hole, the cones are glued only, not stitched, they tear off the surround easily. Sony should just step out of the market as they are laughed upon. Hack hammer is big but not that loud, would much rather an 18" kicker solo x. Same range of output as the jack hammer but smaller yet more responsive 5000watt RMS from memory, so 5 mono blocks will do it.
As for the best sub in the world, i can guarantee you won't be finding it in a car, try some crazy big PA rid somewhere for SPL and for quality probably some freaky swedish hand made speaker that costs more than my house... I dunno. All i know is alpine suck, cadence amps explode, sony sucks more than alpine and i'm tired and forgot what the hell this topic was about...

How to you connect 5 monoblocks to a dual voice coil woofer?

Well from my opinion, i like the Kicker Solar's.
The square subz. My mate had a single 12" Kicker Solar in his car, and it sounded better than two 15" subs.
Which is really great considering it was just one 12".
The other thing is, it's all about the amp. I had 2 **** 12" subs in my car running off an excellent amp, and i tell ya what, it shook hell.
I learnt that it's all about the amp, you can have one 12" sub and if the amp is good enough it'll rock a two 15"s outta their box.
Cheers, just thought i'd chuck my 2 cents in.

Has anyone actually put a mtx jackhammer in there car???
because if the have they whould be the best ones to know. Just because it looks big it must be good not so. All i have is two JBL 10" and they do the job. Upgrading to 2 alpine type x 12" subs

well i reckon its soundstream. i have 2 15 inch xxx series in n.z and that pools out 8000 watts rms per sub thats 16000 watts of rmsand having 2 tarantula xxx series monoblock amps 2 run it. i had to fiber glass my rear window just so i can pump it ryt up. you can probly hear me from 2 blocks down. well yeah and my 3 cent.lol

The Jackhammer is a piece of junk. 130dB is nothing to be proud of and needing 6kwrms to get there is even worse.
As for the best sub in the world, there is no such woofer, however, if I could pick any woofer, it would be the Digital Designs Z15.
lol 130db? are you kidding me? my 45 series mtx 12" pulled over 130! (450w max)
dd's are an awesome spl brand. best i have heard is the 95 series 12" but it was running well below potential. (1000w @ 1ohm instead of god knows what its capabilities are at .5ohm)
the best woofer i have heard is an re audio 15". its an american thing and weighs 40+kilos
oh its from the dead? now i feel like a fool
the car audio section of ct is an absolute joke. i bet beast club has a better audio section
