pinging is fun... and its cheaper then the other type of pinging and it only kills motors, not brain cells.

just thought i'd mentin it from what was said in page 1, and, both types of pinging can be expensive i think.

Well there you go then, Matty uses the Monsta gate, so should be fine. Sorting out the spring is pretty easy, you don't even need to have the supercharger fitted to do it. Just run a single hose from the top of the wastegate to the intake plenum, anywhere after the throttle will do. Sit the wastegate on the passenger seat or floor so you can watch what it does while you drive. Start the engine. The high idle vacuum will pull back the control diaphragm hard against the spring. The gate will snap wide open when the engine starts. Go for a drive around the block. With the original 7psi spring the wastegate will start to close with only the very slightest touch of throttle. At full throttle it will slam shut completely. That is far too much spring. You need to be able to drive the car in normal traffic up to about 3/4 throttle, without the gate shutting completely. Remember, boost starts to climb seriously only after the gate is completely shut. Where it starts to move away from fully open is not quite so important. So start shortening the spring a little bit at a time. Each bit you cut off will allow a bit more throttle before the point of full closure is reached. It is a fascinating thing to watch while driving, but keep your eyes on the road !!!

just a quick question and need it answered fast. should i put the afm before the charger or after and why? and the vacume lines that normally plum into the stock intake pipe what do i do about those? would putting 2 little filters on the ends be ok? thanks in advance guys.

simple rule: the AFM must read EXACTLY the air that is going into the engine. so if you run a wastegate bypass, you need to put the AFM between the bypass and the throttle body. if you have relocated your throttle body to the blower inlet, the AFM will need to sit on the blower inlet pipe, or somewhere after the blower. remember to relocate your idle air bypass hose when you sort the piping, and make sure it is plumbed in between the AFM and the throttle body, otherwise the car won't idle. cheers

thanks for that stocky. the guy that is helping me insisted the afm goes before the blower but i thought otherwise and he wanted to put filters on the vac lines cos he isnt sure if ya can put boost through them. And what about the breather hose that comes out the top of the engine?. also any idea what vac line on the sc14 ya get the boost reading from?. thanks again mate

hey I was just wondering what all you guys did with all the vaccume lines? For example, I've had various people tell me various things about what to do with the breather hose, vaccume line for the brakes and that other thick hose that runs to the place where the air comes in from the inlet manifold. For example, I found this pic, but the vaccume line for the brakes isn't changed and the breather hose is in the same spot. Whereas, the thick hose that runs from the inlet manifold has been repositioned. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

on a supercharged setup can the idle line run from before the blower?when on boost will boost come out the idle line from the plenum(eg boost leak) have a turbo type blower and want to pipe it to Tb with no gate, will the boost push the TB open or build up pressure and come out the turbo in reverse so to speak?any help would be awsome thanks, heres a pic of my old setup(147rwkw) Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Hey kids, how'd you set up the wiring? Also, my one (from el wreckers) has vaccume lines attached to it, yet no one seems to have them on their setup? In short wtf?

why then does it appear that none of the setups (not just on VLs but toyotas etc from other sites) there aren't any visible? It seems a pretty integral part of it

Thanks for any info/opinions fellas. bud a waste gate works on ur exhaust, it redirects flow away from a turbo which flows back into the exhaust to limit ur boost lvls. chargers run on pullys get a pully that suits the psi u want, if u got a pully that runs 6psi theres no need to run any boost limiting items. as for the spring question in the waste gate yes. and sc14 i would save my money and either turbo or hi comp twin cam ur na

Are you retarded?/Have you not bothered to read the rest of this thread? He is not using it to limit boost. The wastegate is used as an air bypass feature at idle and part throttle.
