Here's a few more pics of mine. The tub needs to be a tad over 2 inchs. I cut off the side of the original bracket at 4 inchs wide in the middle to make sure fitted exactly in the same spot. It does not have a piece across the front of the tub it needs to be put on later when you work out where the cable is going. So the base plate is 4 x 12 inches and the walls are a tad over 2 inches high. This will give you just enough cleanence.

has anyone done one with the linkage setup rather than a cable conversion?

hey guys i was wondering about shifters and i just checked out this section and found this thread about it. how exactly does it work. do you shift up and down i.e 1,2,3,4 then 4,2 or wat. also if you are in say 2nd gear and you turn off your car will it turn on and go to nuetral automatically???? how does all that work. i saw a lot of modified vl's with these shifters on and i wasn't 100% sure how they worked. is it as simple as a clutchless manual that is tip tronic or is it more complicated?????? sorry i sound so blond

No worries, man The shifter has nothing to do with the manualising of the gearbox it just replaces the current set up and tells the box what to do, if you have the manual valve body it can be utalised as a manual. If you turn the car off it will stay in gear the same as if you did with the current set up and wont turn on until the shifter is returned to neutral, the shifter can be left in drive as per normal or you can push it into ratchet mode where the shifter can be pushed up and down and it will return to the upright position where it started insted of steping up progressivly, it really wont do bugger all without the mods to the box itself but when done properly i reckon they look good, its a personal preferance i guess. Cheers Rhys

it will shift the box quicker but if the box is not set up for it it may die, it will only shift faster than the old one due to less travel when in ratchet mode, you choose the gear but the computer will overide if need be, on a stock box its mainly for looks but you can have some fun with it in ratchet mode.
