Oh ok so buying a rebuild kit from ACL is gonna require alot of fucking around? If i buy a kit, i can get it at cost and i have the use of all machining equipment in a workshop in sydney where i can get the machining done for next to nothing. if the rebuild kit i buy is 355stoker, does that mean when it's all back together my 308 will then be a 355? My engine is HDT spec, B-cast heads..ect. factory output is 177kw@engine i've added a few things.3.55 diff, box (th700) exhaust, headers, rebuilt carby what i want at the end is. 5.8L 10:1 static compression. near enough to mid 12 second 1/4's minimal time off the road cheap as possible without comprimising reliability. oh and fuck fuel economy too. thanks for the help guys (i will have to pay for any labour needed too)

you will need a crankshaft to go with the ACL rebuild kit, 355's are 3.48" stroke cranks. I think ACL kits generally have about 9.8:1 comp, just mill the heads if you want a tad more. If you want mid 12's you're gonna need a mild camshaft & maybe light headwork & decent intake manifold to suit. Whacking a 355 bottom end on a stock top-end won't get you those times.

mate if thats a true HDT 308 I would put it in the shed and leave it as is. Get another 304 block and build it up. This way you can have minimal downtime to your car, and if anything goes wrong you still ahve that HDT motor as a backup, and honestly people would cry if anything happend because you decided to stroke a HDT motor !

it is genuine numbers match There are a few still out there. The smartest thing to do would do a rebuild of this current motor just new pistons, just a standard rebuild OR a 355 transplant. spending 6K on an engine alone makes me sick especially when i need some cancer removed from the rear window. i know if i were to do the rebuild to 355 i would port and polish heads flow them to about 450/500hp. I wanna do an GRP3/SS mock up in the future, rego runs out in november ill see what happens i'd like to have it painted before then tho. If i get my old man on board i can make it happen but he wrote off his ute today so ill have to wait to see whats goin on. cheers fellas youve been a big help Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
