i'v never bothered to open one of these threads before, as i knew how bad they would be lol.
BUT in saying that my vote would be for that mk2 ford XR blue (NOT blueprint, the lighter one). Over silver.
righto,
i was talking to the guy and he said he will sand blast it (dunno wot that is) and i asked about having purple over silver and he said as with a pearl he cant do over silver it has to be all one colour because it takes to many coats to do it the other over silver, same with a pearl and ith flecks. so its only gunna cost me a few hundred bucks. what do you guys think?
if i hada go colour coded i was thinking stil the deep dark purple or a jet black.
pearl is only like one extra coat, you jsut chuck sum in with ur clear, so i cant understand why he wont do it, and in saying purple over silver.. they are talking about top ofthe car being purple and bumper and moulding being silver

it actually goes in the base coat (colour)not the clear. things like metal flakes get put in clear as a carrying agent then cleared again over that
hahaahaha, old mate wants to sand blast it? oh dear. thats for painting bobcats. they get sand, they put it in a compressor, and shoot it at your car so the paint falls off, leaves it a WONDERFUL finish, just slap some paint on there and you have yourself a textured car.. lol.
Nothing wrong with sandblasting. For the exterior of the car Useing paint stripper is better but for engine bays its the ONLY good way of stripping it back to bare metal. The advantage of sandblasting is the "texture" u describe is equal to sanding scratches so u just paint straight over it. Just have to really blow with air the area to get painted down so all the sand is gone. Ive painted over sand blasted areas quite a few times.
Also i might add there are diferent grades of sand.

That's a great choice, as long as you don't mind being batted to death by Petros!

That monaro is killer! You car came up pretty grouse too, Matty. I dig the colour. Looks good. Put up some pics when you get some rims and the trim back on it!
