Yeah but if you blow the toyota- $1500 later and you have another.
Fuel economy on the toyota is heaps better too, coz they run them lean.

Nice work VL400, great to see something different.
Out of interest, how do these motors compare to the Nissan VQ45?

There's a vl drag car in progress with a 1uzfe conversion and twin turbo setup. The owner is aiming to get 500 - 600hp. There was a little thread in StreetComm
It has also been documented that the 1uzfe produced 2700hp! Also many people claiming to be able to rev their's out to 9000rpm (completely stock)

But there is no way you can compare the smoothness and note of the lexus v8 compared to an old holden cast iron block ....

lol this thread is ollld
anyway their note isnt great, has nothing on a holden 8... smoothness yes they are ahead of their time but i looked into it ages ago when this thread was ripe and theres too many things to put u off, the parts for the motor are insanely expensive.. a headgasket is like $350, waterpump $400, bearings $400 little things like that make it rediculous.

Mine sounds great, has a nice deep rumble but may have more to do with the 3 inch exhaust. When i first started mine,it was down one coil so it was firing on 4 cyls(2 on the left bank 2 on the right)sounded like a wrx but idled dead smooth didnt shake like the old 5ltr wouldve.Parts arent as cheap but genuine was the cheapest.

I know Sinister your a Holden head deep down, so i'm not gunna try and argue this here, but i've driving my mates soarer for over 2 years now ... and nothing compares to the smoothness, sound and feel of that motor ...

no dont get me wrong, im a big fan of the 1uz... i was a bees **** from picking one up from a wreckers for $1200! (was even considering the nissan VH45) they are so cheap its awesome but the AFTER bits are what put me off as id wanna probably at least freshen the motor up and rings, bearings, gaskets e.t.c would cost almost more than the motor itself i couldnt believe it. ive been in one and its amazing how good they are, i am a big fan... but in the end id rather save a lot more money and have more power and torque (holden 8) rather than have smoothness.

I'll try and grab some pics this weekend, motor was in the bay last time i was around there, not 100% sure what induction he's using - but it'll either be twin turbos or a single SC, should go like a bat outa hell Wicked motor - even uses forgies standard Time for some booooost

How much difference is in the VH41 to the VH45? I'm looking at figures, and they both claim 270HP but theres 400cc difference?

maybe same peak hp but the 45 would make it at less revs and it would definitely have more torque.. type in VH45 v 1uz in google you find some good discussions comparing the engines for a conversion.. the VH is a masterpiece as is the 1uz but the problem is the VH is a big mofo not much smaller than a big block in width or so apparantly
btw love the sig lol

nice! unreal how quiet and poised it is, at idle speed you can hardly tell its running
afaik the aftermarket though is almost non existent for them, another reason ppl choose the 1JZ
