Yes, your lights give slightly better light then the stock ones (I have them too) but they wouldn't even compare to the xenon headlights. If they did BMW, Merc etc would throw your $30 globes in wouldn't they???
Yes they are expensive but IMHO are well woth it if you do a lot of night time driving, the VL lights are Sh1te!!!

What is the difference between genuine XENON HID lights and Xenon gas-filled bulbs?
High Intensity Discharge (HID) is a type of lighting technology that replaces the filament of the light bulb with Xenon gas. The gas is ignited to produce an arc of light, when high voltage is applied. The amount of light output is three times that of a standard halogen bulb. The lamps also glow at a higher light temperature (closer to natural sunlight) that gives it its distinct color and appearance.
Other companies produce halogen bulbs that are gas-filled. They still have a filament as they are halogen technology, but the gas gives the bulb a bluer color when lit. Xenon-filled halogen bulbs produce little or no more light output than standard halogen bulbs of the same wattage.
"It should be noted that halogen technology is not comparable to the Xenon discharge technology, fitted as original equipment to more and more of the world's finest cars." - Philips
DO NOT BE FOOLED BY COMPANIES THAT OFFER HID-LOOK BULBS!
They are not a true XENON HID light system. (We have even seen poor quality globes that no more than painted blue manufactured from who knows where!) XenonOz kits use only the highest quality components that has been not only proven in the field, but in competition use.
That post clears up nothing.
Nearly two grand on headlights... that's a full (stock) rebuild! Or rims! Or a cooler & piping! Or aftermarket management! Or you could spend less than $200 on new headlights and good quality bulbs and you probably wouldn't even tell the difference except for the colour of the light.
I hate xenon equipped cars, they are too bright IMHO and are blinding on unlit roads.
I can't believe people think this is a good idea and money well spent... like you say ITSGMH it's your money etc... but really, I have no idea how you justify that.
oldgold, there are plenty of kits avaliable for sub $1000 for vl's...1 for $700 like i mentioned above, all of which would give you a giant leap in brightness over conventional bulbs no matter how bright they are... wheather or not its worth paying, $500+ more for HID/XENON lights is entirely up to the person... i agree with u, paying 1400 for them rather than getting something else more worthwhile done is rather full on....but hey some people might rate it as being very important ( people who drive on unlit roads lots/country area's) or those who just want top quality lights for ther car....
what can you justify ?? its entirely subjective....
how many vl's have you seen with all leather retrimmed interiors... ive seen at least 30-40 i can name.... that **** costs at least around 4-6 grand... can you justify that?
it has less function than headlights...
neways.. u get my point!
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
bulbs wouldnt be too bad... maybe $80-120 , but they should last 10x the length of halogen bulbs...
for people complaining about expenses... there are quite a few on ebay going for sub $700... and i can get brand new ones with warranty for $750 or so.... ther really not that bad....
heres a kit that would fit perfect on vls...

i admit that it sounds preety good in favour of the HID globes in that article, but its written by the company selling them, its the most biast data you can get, also on the ebay item you see what they have the kit fitted to? A TRUCK! thats basically all that they may be practical for, unless you drive from one side of australia to another everyday then they aint worht it, and even then normal Xenon gas filled filement ones will do, its not like they give off no light, mine are still preety powerfull, and if you wanna see my lights and big muscles you can have my address...joke
If you people want to look so similar to a BMW then why dont you just go buy one and pay the absorbatant price for fancy globes and a badge?
my picture of my light only looks so dull cause i put the exposure down low so you could actaully see the globes and stuff, sure i could set my exposure to what they had in those pics on the ebay item and get the nice solar flare kinda look going but yeh, take ur pic guys, we aint all einsteins are we?
Have any of you guys actually gone and put new headlights (genuine) in your cars with a set of say "plus 50's", ill tell you now, its not bad, but HID's would still be way better!
My new lights are great!
Matt, I have replaced both my headlights with Genuine units also with the bright white bulbs and they are awesome, such a huge improvement I agree, and not only @ night, the nice clean glass looks horn during the day!
