Hey Chamra, Do you have to weld up the old hole for the pedal pin in the vt booster input shaft and the redrill it to fit a vr/s .I checked my old one against the vt one and there is about 10 mm difference between centres of the holes to the end bracket on the firewall?

Im in the same boat as 87calais here. Ive got the Nissian 4 spot calipers with VT slotted discs on the front of my VL,im also running the V8 booster and 1 inch Master cylinder. Now the brakes really do work great and pull the car up very quickly but ive got quite a spongy pedal,it goes pretty much all the way to the floor and im not real fussed on the feel of it.I bleeded the brakes today and there was abit of air in the line so hopefully this may of stiffened up the pedal abit.I think my problem was I didnt bench bleed the cylinder before fitting it and like CHARMA said ive got air in the 2ndary bore. I'll let you guys know how it feels later on tonight.

Just went for a run.Pedal has stiffened up abit and brakeing has improved however the pedal still goes all the way to the floor. When I say that the pedal goes all the way to the floor say im doing 100kph and i get on the brakes hard (say 90%) without locking them up when the car has came to a complete stop i can still push the pedal to the floor. Not on---Brakes start----Cars stopped--Floor Thats a rough diagram of how my brakes feel with ' - ' being the constant measure if you can understand that.LOL

Something is definately wrong there. With the 1" mine dont go near the floor at all. (15/16" master did though) Its probally 20-30mm lower than standard the 1" master on mine. Did you bleed it properly. Passenger Rear Driver Rear Passenger Front Driver Front Make sure you bleed it fully, use a few litres of brake fluid to be sure.

Hey mate.Yep definately did bleed it properly, used 1-2 litres when installing the brakes and have re-bled it about 3 times since.Theres no worry about the brakes pulling the car up they do an awesome job and its not like the pedal hits the floor when I get on them,it just has that bit of play where it goes to the floor after stopping or when pumping the brake pedal in park/netural.Master cylinder isnt leaking at all and booster is in the same condition. Any other ideas?

is your booster hooked up properly? that sounds wierd that u can hit the floor? that would freak me out if anything! I have changed and brought the brake vt upgraded from the site! i am yet to drive it, will i have major problems! I have a V8 master cylinder and brake booster that i took of my other car! should i even bother putting this on, or go get a vs plastic booster and vt master?

Just abit difficult to break lightly as the brakes just start to work before any real pressure is applied to the pedel, so i always end up driving like i'm on the track! Other than that it prob needs a little more rear bias but better than having too much. I'm happy and not going to change anything for a while. I changed the pedel ratio by removing the pedel box and pedel (not easy) then cutting the pedel between the pivot and the clevis and welding 60mm of steel to lengthen the pedel. Then made a new pivot on the pedel box 60mm higher. So the clevis and pedel pad are in the same place but swing from higher up. I'd never do it again...

Did the whole setup today on my vr using a vh booster bracket modded to fit the vt booster as per jimbos site with a few differences to his dimensions especially the pedal pivot hole in the pushrod 113.5 from hole centre to the bracket ...everything else bolted up fine and worked a treat...no problems with bleeding at all and the pedal travel is reduced...definately worth the trouble. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Yeah, ive got the vt master and vs booster modded ready to go in as well. Just gotta go to racebrakes and get the line adapters. (Public Holidays) Can't wait to see how it performs.

You have to weld up the pedal hole in the pushrod and redrill and modify the firewall bracket but it worked out great.I know its not a VL but the bracket I modified came from a VH commodore so I assume that the brackets stayed the same in dimensions and angle from vb's right through the commodore range up to VRs so the same modification will fit a vl ....no wuckers However you will need line adapters to mate up the brake lines to the vt master as the flairing on the ends of the solid lines were double flare type from VB to VPs and then they changed to ball type flares.

sorry to dig up old thread, but everyone would say search otherwise What i want to know is from reading this thread all VS S1,2,3 boosters are plastic? I am going to upgrade the master & booster when i do my brakes but would prefer the VS booster as it bolts straight up rather than use VT. but would prefer a metal booster. and will be using Vt master anyone know?
