- unplug ur afm
- test the resistance @200ohm (i think, it might be 2000 though so just see what kinda nubers come up) between the 1st and last pin on the afm
- the stock resistance should be 382
- if its not that poke that thing sticking out with a screwdriver and turn the screw in there till you get the right reading
- although 382 is the right reading i found that my car run much better at 320 without losing any fuel economy at all
were is the Afm... is it easy to get at??
I have a VL Wagon 3ltr and get about 380km's per a tank, thats driving pretty crusie as well.
What about the fuel mixture? Do you have to check that too if you change the airflow setting?
i just replaced my AFM...already seen a massive improvement in petrol..looking at getting atleast 500..with the old one in i was lucky to get 300..
next i need to clean me injecters..

i changed:
-ignition leads
-spark plugs
-hi-flow panel (old one woz paper)
-put in cai and took out+blocked up stock snorkel
all of the above should slightly help your fuel efficiency
just incase you are wonder a stock vl fuel tank is 63 litres, the wagons came with a 68 litre tank stock.
lol where you getting 63 litres a tank, my tank is 50 litres i think yours should be too

I think he's right. VL fuels tanks are 63 litres (aprox). I've had 3 VLs, and i've never come accross a 50 litre tank...?
hey guys,
i'm wondering if i should try all this stuff as i'm only getting about 350km's a tank using PULP. The reason i ask is my n/a VL has a been fitted with a Chiptorque HP3 chip and cam package. would that be affecting the fuel economy much?
should i just go ahead and do all the stuff 'vldude'03' listed?
anyone know anything about these Chiptorque chip and cam packages relating to fuel economy?
I am usually lucky to get 300km. The funny thing is, to test my economy I filled up my tank and drove it like a granny, not going over 3000rpm, and I still only get about 300km WTF!!! This is 50/50 higway and city driving. The car has been serviced - new spark plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotor etc.
I have noticed when I flat stick it I can see the fuel gauge moving down, then when I ease off it goes back up. If I was to keep the car I would want to get to the cause of the excessive fuel comsumption, but as I am getting rid of it soon, I can't be bothered wasting my time.
