I have seen my mates N/A motor with 300,000kms on the clock have a T04 slapped on it with motec and big injectors and it ran like a dream for more than 6 months on over 25psi

Yeah, my VL has done about 350-360,000 ks with no rebuild and still goes heaps good, put it this way, it can keep up with a VS exec... so It had about 330-340,000 ks or so on the clock when I brought it in July last year... I'm the fouth owner, and the guy I brought it off flogged it to ****, other people who knew him said so after they knew i brought it... but even with high ks and a floggin' it still starts everytime.

I have a 2 na vl executives. The first one is 3/88 and has travelled 188,000kms (genuine. It has books and I bought it off friends of my dad who owned it for almost 10 years) The original head finally cracked at 172 000kms.. about a year ago now. I have never had to add oil to the engine between services. It never seems to move on the dipstick My second one is 11/87. It was traded in, in sydney and ended up being sold here in a yard in sa.(like half the vls you see on the road here with new rego numbers and plates, interstate rejects). It says 256,000kms on the clock but i wouldnt believe it. The car was in a pretty sad state when i got it, but the engine still runs strong and doesnt burn any oil apart from a lifter that ticks ever now and then. My mate bought a 87 wagon from a yard for the reason it had only 160 000kms on the clock. Shortly after buying it the trans went, followed by a number of other major things over the following 18 months. The engine always used lotsa oil and the lifters began ticking like a typewriter. Things didnt add up. He let me drive the car one night to compare it to mine and ask my opinion about the engine (first time i ever touched the F*** thing and wished i hadn't). We weren't even 200m down the road and i floored it. At only 4000rpm it went BANG! Spun a big end bearing didn't I? Although the motor would have blown the next time he drove it hard, i sortta wore the blame. He was pretty pissed the engine had lasted so little kays. I ended up finding him another motor out of a mates r31 skyline that had been torched. As were were removing the old engine i discovered an old service label for a timing belt replacement. It revealed the car/engine had really done more like 480,000kms instead of the 180 000 the clock said! So the motor had good reason for blowing!

Mine has just clicked over 280,000Km. Still starts 1st time (most of the time anyway). But rough when cold but runs good when warm. I get probly 400-450Km to a tank so its doing pretty well. Just the usual service. Sparkies etc. I think its still got the original leads on it to!

This thread fills me with confidence lol My 88 SII Exec has done about 238,000... I have no idea what the previous owner had to replace but I've had to reco the injectors, new CAS and coil, replaced the AFM, Idle Solenoid and Cold Start valves. Starts every time without fail, if its cold it'll run rough for about a minute or two and then she's sweet. I've always been worried that it might suddenly cark it but seeing the numbers being put up here I'm feelin good about it hehe I always thought that when I want to go turbo I'd have to reco the engine or drop a new one in... might not have to after all.

I went to look at a 1987 VL Turbo 5 SPEED Wagon for sale one day, he wanted $3000. So I get around there it was rough as guts. I looked over at the clock and saw 594 000km on the clock. I said to the guy is that for real?? and he says YES !!! He was driven it to and from Cairns to Weipa, around a 1000km or something continously. I said has it had a rebuild? and he said NO!!! Could not believe it

I've done about 240,000 in my 1986 VL Calais. I don't know what the previous owner did to it, it hasn't had a rebuild at all. All i've done to it is changed the crank angle sensor, and the temperature coolant sensor, thats about $300 worth of work. Its also had 1 service since I got it, and another service is due next month. It starts 80% of the time first go, sometimes it needs a bit of reving. I'll probably get it rebuilt sometime when I get more money. Great cars though Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

my mates car has done 300,000 and has been thrashed to death. Still goes hard, though we're not sure for how much longer, there's only so many burnouts one car can take. Still though, runs orright.

Clocked up 600000k's this weekend. It's a Jan 86 Berlina auto wagon, 2nd owner I've had it for 6years. Had a headgasket, but nothing major. Currently experiencing an ignition related issue that I just can't trace - but compression is still good, fuel economy is great (not as good as my last car - a 5spd VL) Great cars - miss the manual though Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
