I've seen quite a few books where the dealer puts other ID numbers or model nos in the book instead of the correct ones.
Also seen ones where the s/hand dealer gave buyers a book for another car altogether

I was pretty dumb when i got my VL calais. i didnt know **** about any of this. its thanks to this site iv been educated. I really wouldnt be suprised if mine is a re-birth. It CLEARLY wasnt originally a calais when i got it (which i only noticed after getting it, realising cruise control, elec windows didnt work/not even plugged in and later a dead givaway of the corner black plastic bits on rear above lights being exec type) and at rego the chassis number didnt match the engine number. Only cost 4000 and now i see why. This was bout 18months ago, learned heaps since then. Now im wondering if some poor basterd lost their car thanks to my poor purchase.
Is there anything i could/should do in my situation?

It's getting that f$@^# in this country that I don't wanna drive my Calais anywhere. I freak if the missus takes it to the shops. That sucks, this is Australia for F#&$ sake.
