10-09-04, 14:35 GMT+10#41 vls are gr8 4 str8 line, especially with old soft shox and springs on the back.
but to do corners they can be made to do really well, but remember u can't expect the best no matter how much u spend unless u got irs

10-09-04, 15:10 GMT+10#42 Mine is alright, pedders springs and shocks, nothing else, bushes are still in good nick, gets a bit of body roll but nothing too extreme..Understeer to the max around quickish corners, usually with a bit of throttle that turns into oversteer though..
Fairly bumpy stuff though, taking a corner and hitting a bump, thats some crazy stuff.
Although my mate with a gemi with chopped springs reckons my car handles better.. I'd hope so.

10-09-04, 15:35 GMT+10#43 Look i had a TX3 turbo hi flowed turbo and exhaust and cooler 14 psi and it seemed to go harder then my VL but thats only because its a FWD.
a MR2 is a FWD car trying to be a RWD car havnet u seen the Supercharger engine in a 92 coroller it sits upside down the lol.
every car has there ups and downs.
but hey tell ur friend in teh MR2 get a huge front mount and bigger radiator and maybe swap to a big turbo and ohh thats right its hasnt got the space sheezz i can drive with 5 passengers and 1 under the bonnet lol.
VL's are family sedans.
MR2 are sports cars.
ask him to change his on alternator or somthin alot of fun maybe even starter motor lol.

10-09-04, 16:07 GMT+10#44 I owned and drove a 92 SW-20 MR2 for 4 years and believe me, they handle like a f\/cking go-cart even on factory suspension. And they are a RWD LSD which works very well, but yeah, they are only a 2 seater and the engine bay is very crammed, just changing the timing belt takes 6 hours and that is a Toyota Mechanic doing it, with me helping.
You can't compare the 2 cars, they are completely different, but all I can say is the MR2 is a "fun" car to drive!

10-09-04, 21:54 GMT+10#46 If you want drive a go cart on the road get yourself a mini. As far as cost per car per mods go u can't beat a cooper S, and it'll still whip most cars of today in handling!! and that's with std suspension!!

11-09-04, 12:58 GMT+10#47 lol, of course the mini will handle good, the trick to good cornering is a light car, cos momentum caused by weight is what makes you lose traction.
and for a fun car i'de say anything light with front wheel drive cos they're easier 2 keep on the road unlike rwd. gr8 for driving in the wet!

11-09-04, 13:15 GMT+10#48 my vl handles fine.
lowered suspension pisses me off though. might go sell the car....
new cars have better suspension setups.
ever seen a vt with full lock? the tyre/wheel is bent like this

better setup.

It's fairly obvious you're a good driver, but unlike front wheel drive, when traction is lost in a RWD you still have your steering, you just need to know what to do with it. Rear wheel drive helps cornering undoubtedly also using the same principle. A GT-R 4WD setup is a whole other story, and is obviously a very desirable setup.

My VL does that, you just need heaps of castor
i spent the coin on my VL and it now handles beautifully in comparison the the std setup.
VLs CAN handle you just need to spend $$$ on the right parts.
and MR2s turbos can go fast if you spend $$$ on the right parts.
if you buy a VL with intention to initially have a good handling car then you are starting in wrong place and i guess the same could be said for drag racing an MR2
handling is by no means the top priority of most VL owners

14-09-04, 20:42 GMT+10#52 My GF wants a AW11 MR2 or a Vtec CRX...
I have to say weight is the biggest killer for the VL, well trying to race a calais isn't the best idea...

15-09-04, 13:35 GMT+10#53 man tell ya Gf to get the Vtec CRX i think these small FWD cars with turbos are nothing but trouble.
yer i know what u mean 2 me my FWD Tx3 turbo was easier 2 keep on the road then the VL i am just starting 2 learn how to keep the VL str8 if the back wants to kick but i still aint no schumauca lol
in the wet i could dump the FWD car and have it spinning around corners and sliding and still stay on the road but i wouldnt try that in the VL lol.

Thats a good bit of trivia, it must be how long it takes him in the MR2 to get down to the local internet cafe.
I think its funny that u wrote the last boost by Boostedcal....haha. and keep on the drugs, people that tell u to get off them must have missed something when they tried it last....

19-09-04, 20:10 GMT+10#60 BOOSTnWGn - I didn't even notice this was a really old thread. I was bored at work so i decided to look up some forums to read and i stumbled across this thread!
Boostedcal - I'm new on here so I didn't know this was an old thread, but I can tell you now that my car is no sloutch, fast around the corners and in a straight line.
