just bumping up this good bit of info.. and also adding another question. Anyone know if the old xc falcons/fairmonts/fairlanes had borg warner 78 series diffs also? From what i can see, they also had similar ratios available (2.72, 2.92, etc) so im assuming they do? Also, is it 100% true that ALL xf fairmonts, ghia's and s pac's (that is both AUTO and MANUAL) have the 2.92 gears, or is it only manual falcons that had them? If its only the manuals that had 2.92's then it makes it a little harder as stocko GL falcon manuals more than likely wont have lsd's, and i sooooo cbf taking the diff cover off on every falcon in the lot to see if its got an lsd or not, and most the fairmonts and ghia's will be auto anyway. ta

I'd like to know what people think I've got a Lokka coming from 4wd Systems next week for slightly more than that, new design so anyone that says they are sh*t is referring to the old ones which are now obselete. I'll let you know how it goes once I get it in in a couple of weeks. If I couldnt get one of these I would have got a Detroit, simply for the fact that BW cone LSD's are about the worst factory LSD around.

i know this is a stupid question but correct me if i'm wrong, when people talk about 2.92 and up they are talking about the diffs ratio correct. eg the fords diff ratio would be 2.92 and the vl's would be 3.45.

I'd like to know what people think Hey, I'm just wondering where you can get a new 25 spline lsd VLT-025 for $500? Where did you see them for sale?

Street n Strip gears, on Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Borgwarner-He...QQcmdZViewItem (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Borgwarner-Heavy-Duty-LSD-Carrier-25-28-or-31-Spline_W0QQitemZ250194763969QQihZ015QQcategoryZ102360QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) Seems that the same thing elsewhere is between $650-880. I got mine for $660 from a local diff shop here but some others are charging nearly $900 just to supply a new LSD centre! To build mine cost $1650 BARE (no brakes etc) with me supplying the housing, axles (which needed new disk brake seals and bearings, as did the carrier obviously) and 4.11 gears. This was with me shopping around for the best deal I could, from a reputable shop. I really wanted to go Kaaz but when a basic BW diff costs this much...who the fuck can afford that for a streeter! So yeah, back to the point, $500 is a good deal!

never heard of them bein for sale... but a 28spline centre can be changed down to a 25spline, thus keeping the 4 pinion centre...

XD XE XF falcons run a 2.77 diff for auto, 2.92 for manual, and fairlanes have lsd's (most xf (FE) fairlanes and ltd's had them) E series falcons run the same diff, with a 3.23 ratio finding out if a falcon is a lsd or not is simple, look for the filler cap, if its steel or black, open, if its got a red cap, its lsd (done from ford to easily distinguish at service intervals what oil to use)

But that doesnt stop people from using whatever they have handy when they lose the proper red one.

Reason for it is mentioned a few posts ago...
