27-03-03, 13:08 GMT+10#45 he's from Rockhampton - it use to reside just down the road from my work. The car is now no longer as the motor has been taken out and put into a pontiac as the commodore shell/chassis was all twisted and getting weak

08-04-03, 20:35 GMT+10#46 In Melbourne, Amberly Autos in Dandenong have a V8 Twin Turbo dishing out over 1000HPs. Congradulations to the boyz at Amberly Autos. What a monster this car is.

20-04-03, 11:00 GMT+10#47 The Veilside R32 RB26DETT actually produces about 1360hp @ the crank, not the wheels
They also hav a Supra 2JZ that uses the same turbos as the RB26 but produces round 1300@the crank but the turbos come on boost a hell of a lot sooner in the 2JZ
The R32 on street radials runs low 8s while the Supra does low 9s i think
Yeah Eddy done 1525 ova WA wit C16 n on his first run down the 1/4 he pulled n 8.1 at bout 177mph on only 21lb i think it was, at the nats he was supposed to b runnin bout 40lb+
Check out the latest SM magazine n Zoom, Zoom has the dyno sheet n SM mag has a feature on his car
Cheers

They'll tell you the HUGE dyno number's they make, but they'll NEVER let you know about the gasket's and piston's they crack every 2nd outing....

21-04-03, 11:41 GMT+10#52 Ok so he's running 53lb of boost. He doesnt necessarily have to break engine parts though if he is running s super low compression like 5:1 or something. Thats how doorslammers etc run ludicrous amounts of boost. Super low compression.

21-04-03, 12:36 GMT+10#53 Yeah on a 10" slick
If he put bigger tubs in it n run a wider slick n used bout 30-35lb i would say it would do low 7s.
He runs 8.1 on a very basic suspension setup aswell n only runnin 21lb
It seems very much a street car to me n it is almost into a 7
Also did ne notice the NOS bottle in the boot of the VH in SM magazine?? I take it that it is only used to get the turbos onto boost??
Cheers

The world's quickest and fastest Nissan, the vaunted twin-turbo HKS 180SX that four years ago made a blistering 7.27-second 189-mph quarter-mile pass at Sendai Raceway in Japan, will make its first run on U.S. soil this weekend in Englishtown. Tetsuya Kawasaki, one of Japan's most popular racers, will be piloting the seven-year-old 180SX in exhibition passes only
The 180SX, with its familiar HKS splash graphics, is powered by a RB26 DETT Skyline engine that produces approximately 1,300 horsepower 8O at 9,000 rpm and 672 ft./lbs. of torque at 7,000 rpm. The powerplant features HKS H-form cross section connecting rods, an HKS full-counter crank, and forged HKS pistons. HKS cams, head gasket, twin GT3037 turbos, Racing Wastegate and Intercooler feed power to an air shifted Liberty five-speed.
Tetsuya Kawasaki (driver of the 180sx), was the burnout king of the event, made it clear the Nissan did more than granulate rubber as it blasted to a best-ever 7.18 8O at 190.62 mph to take the top spot
We were impressed with the Nissan's ET turbos. The four-cylinder single turbo's 7.18 was right on the tail of the Celica's best effort of 7.10 and the Celica had twice the pistons and twice the turbos. The HKS 180SX was definitely the star of the event. Note the Celica was V8 Twin Turbo to be able to achieve the time of 7.10, and the ET was single turbo!! 8O , it wasnt far behind  .
Go the ET turbos  , Nissan has once again proven to be the king of Muscle and speed 8) . Hence we love the VLTs so much...... because they are a hybrid car Aussie/Japanese. and VLTs are cheap performance cars, easy to mod with big power outputs that the average Aussie guy can afford  !

I was just browsing the web looking at rb26 info when I came across this thread. I know this is a few years later but thought I'd add something.
I thing some of you are missing the point because the point is.........
The rb26 production engine is 1 of the most tunable (including modified parts & electronic tuning) engines ever produced considering the spec as standard but then when you look at how powerful a V8 can be tuned to (again... including modified parts & electronic tuning) then the same statement "the V8 production engine is 1 of the most tunable (including modified parts & electronic tuning) engines ever produced" also applies. That said, they are both amazing machines.

We're all well aware of how quick the HKS "RB26" 180SX went....

What times and MPH are they running as well?
No point talking about how much power "X" motor can or has made....that's not the point here.
