While a VLT will be alot quicker than an n/a, by buying an n/a VL i have a better base to work with. If i decide i want a turbo, i'll do the conversion rather than buy one.

That really makes no sense to me, why buy a n/a when you know well and truely you want a turbo down the track. You are also well aware of how much a conversion is going to cost you.
Whats the point in buying an n/a when everything, apart from panels and interior will have to be replaced with the stronger parts. You will be able to buy a VLT outright with the cost of converting.
Dont be a girl!

I dont see the point either, i sold my n/a VL and upgraded to a VS! Cant really see why you would go down hill and by a VL , particulary a n/a!

here's an idea... make a decision for yourself! you seem to ask for advice or change your plans on this car every week! lol
oh yeah and don't take me seriously... just foolin around. but still - do what YOU think you should do, nobody but your opinion counts (except maybe your g/f or parents... depending on age and relationship status) hehe

I know a guy in adelaide who had (now sold it) a VS v6 ute, that ran high 13's, with not even a chip!! No bull****, this thing impressed me, and i'm not much of a commodore fan. Pod filter in custom air box, exhaust, thermo fan, electric water pump, modified throttle body (not sure what), platinum plugs, 11mm leads, premium fuel. Also I think he redid all intake ducting, to straighten it right out, and minimise heat absorbption. He swore that chips are a waste of money until internals are changed, providing the engine has max air flow. Combine this with a 5 speed and someone who knows how to drive, and prepared to thrash the car (who isn't) and it should be pretty quick. If you're prepared to do all this (bit of mucking around, but fairly cheap) plus i reckon cams and chip, maybe port/polish, you will have a fast 6, that will piss off a fair few v8's and turbo's. Remember the handling advantage of having a lighter engine up front also

HAHAHA LOL
its still a ***kin TOYOTA you poof, stop dreaming and living in the shadow of a VS Commodore and its possibilities. Buy something with work done to it, much less work and cheaper in the long run.

Dont the Formula Holden guys get like 400hp from their V6 motors?
Why not try to find out off one of the guys who races one?

Hmm 400hp, yes but made possible with a nice new ACL billet crank!
And a nice stable roller from Surecam!
