Sounds alright. But the VVT unit isn't held in place by a spring. Get a spanner and turn it, I bet it won't come back. And the operation of the unit is more complicated than that and requires extensive mapping of each cam location. But if you got it to work then it sounds like an alright idea, and could save you money on some specific cam specs.
I prefer to spend my money on cams that suit the motor as opposed to using my money on the dyno for prolonged amounts of time (and money).
Seen bad things on dynos, especially recently.
Oh well as it turns out , the route I'm taking is plenty cheaper for me. And the same goes for you I'm sure, so we'll see whos pays off...

I wouldnt worry about seeing who's pays off.
We are all going through the money
As long as we get a rush out of driving one of Nissans best.
Have fun

Yeah that's exactly what i have done to mine, taped into the front of the head with a 90deg fitting!
Thats a delco ecu isn't it? or was that only used on VN/VP V8's?
Would your ecu be suitable for turbo aswell?
Sounds good anyway!
And Luke, the cam doesn't require a spring as the torque of driving the cam will retard it fully, the oil pressure will advance it fully.
Its a Delco, that was used in the VN, VP, v6 & v8 auto and manual, VR &VS manuals and a Nissan Pulsar. With Kalmaker its not the ECU, but the programe that makes it suitable for turbos.
Kalmaker sell a programes up to 3 Bar that will do more functions than you can poke a stick at.

Yeah i've heard the delco's r a good thing (fully reprogramable), and are available cheap s/h, didn't even think of it for a 500hp engine. I might have to do some research!!
