Youre close, but not exactly. Here is the real story behind the BT1
When producing the BT1 for the Australian government, Holden took the lowest spec Commodore they had available, removed the hubcaps and renamed the rims as "ceptaz", added FE2 suspension to try and make them go round the corners, and installed some radio equipment so they could order donuts on the way to stakeouts
All BT1s were ordered in white, however a small number got mixed up in a Taxi production run and ended up coming out of the factory in a colour called Taxi Yellow. Holden then told the Australian government about the stuff up, and it was decided that they would take the yellow ones anyway and use them as undercover taxis. The VL BT1s were used for around 2 years until a far superior model came out which Holden called The VN. The VN had a much more powerful 3.8L engine, was bigger, and looked a lot better
The yellow VL BT1s were then sold to second and third tier owner operator taxi drivers and were commercially used for many years, until the mileage got too high and they started to rust around the windscreens. In most cases the old taxis were unsaleable so the owners ended up turned them into mile drag cars
Since Habibs recent drag racing success in his old VL taxi the BT1 has become a highly sort after car and now sells for more than the top of the line Calais

You're missing something there Alex;
"The VN" had another advantage over the VL, the new 3.8 litre model had a built in buttock massager that switched on every time you are idling at the traffic lights or exceed 4000rpm
