It'll take around 35-40 litres, but gotta fill it slooooow. Trouble is, if you use that autofill feature on the pump it overflows all over the show. Not cool. I blew backwards through the breather hoses, and you can blow into the tank, so I don't think there are any kinks in the hoses. There is no carbon canister, so is it possible I have stuffed up the hose set up? I had almost no hoses and no canister when I dropped the tank! How big is the standard VL tank? 63 litres?
Cheers
Did you correctly refit the breather hoses around the filler neck??With the correct hoses? If you use the incorrect hoses the fuel will kill them.

They are fuel resistant hoses if that's what ya asking. I'm wondering if lack of canister is the problem. I found a diagram on this site to put it back together - can't find it now as the search doesn't seem to be working. Obviously for some reason it's not breathing properly. Had no hoses before, so either way I'm ending up with fuel pi55ing out on the forecourt. Not cool! I'll pull the flap off and take a pic see if anyone can shed some light on it.

check the big breather hose is'nt squashed between chassis rail and tank it should be fed through the top of chassis and boot floor

na man its all factory except ive fitted one of those gizmo shift lights. was working fine up untill a couple of weeks ago guess ill just have to muck around with it see if i can find the problem im thinking it may be to do with the shift light
OK, so I found this on Street Commodores:
http://www.streetcommodores.com.au/i...thing_easy.pdf (http://www.streetcommodores.com.au/images/tech/PDF/122_breathing_easy.pdf)
I am missing the black box thing (breather reservoir according to something else I found) that attaches to the fuel filler neck. Could this be the problem - are the hoses not capable of holding all the air from the tank?

are all the hoses fed through the chassis rail and boot floor as per manufactures design or squashed between tank and chassis

losen the nut but leave it on still then wrigle it side to side might take a while but it should come off otherwise you may need to use some kind of puller
Loosen the nut and get both your knees/legs under the wheel putting even pressure on it. Then get a hammer and tap the center shaft while holding pressure on it with your legs.
Its worked many times for me at work

Get a 3 legged bearing puller or you will do some damage. So easy to do,Try and stay away from the hammering bit,As you can damage the internals of the steering mechcanism.

That's true, although assuming its still the original VL wheel it may be hard to fit the puller around the hornpad area.
Criky would there be one about with it;s original wheel

Ok, so I dropped my fuel tank, and whaddayaknow - the fat hose that goes through the chassis rail was kinked. Now I just need to wait to payday to see if I can fill the tank!
Dan; my hose set is exactly the same as yours, except for the breather reservoir, so it will be interesting to see if I've fixed the problem or not. I'm guessing you can't buy them reservoirs any more?
Good question.....Im not sure although I doubt it. If you did need one Im sure you could pull one off a wreck somewhere.
I bet my hose is kinked too under my boot floor

question for the HDT buffs.
the HDT badges, the blue lettering in HDT is for VK 's and the black lettering (the H&T) is for the VL's?
hope that made sence?if not i can add pics
cheers
Kelvin
yea i knew that, thats what got me stumped, even tho Mirandas isnt factory i wondered if that badge is VL era and blue is VK era.
or was it certain model(special) that had the black badge.
cheers
