so you can fit any type of glide? and can the std torque converter be used or does it have to be custom?

No doubt a powerglide is a great box but i have noticed alot of pro drag cars in the USA going to 3spd transmissions, especially the 10.5 tyre cars...

If i was to get a Holden 6cyl powerglide with a bell housing adaptor & rb30 to powerglide converter, would this be sufficient for mostly street driving??? (Knowing that it will need to be rebuilt later on to handle more power)

What i mean is say if you were to compare to exact same engines making 500hp but one engine get's to 500hp quicker, which means quicker down the track... Does this also apply to 2 or 3spd trans???

You could have a 500hp engine that makes fat power from 3500-6000rpm and another car making 500hp with power from 5000-6500rpm. I'd rather have a fatter mid range than a higher power figure. My set up for example. With a GT42 made around 340rwkw... at 6000rpm. But it was only making 200rwkw at 4500rpm. Now with a smaller turbo it's getting that 200rwkw the second you touch the pedal and it's up on the convertor. It makes for a much much better drive, power is way earlier and the band is from 3500+ instead of nearly 5000 upwards.

gday all looking at buying a powerglide for the build im about to start shortly.as i know nothing about these boxes i have a few questions hope someone can help.the car will be used for drags, dyno runs and play time. first in hoping to get around 750 rwhp e85 with a 150 hp shot of nos from a 30/26 it will have a pump tune of around 450/500rwhp. would a box built for 850hp with all the bells and whistles do the job.the bloke ive been speaking to reckons they are built to handle 1000hp does this sound right. do most builders under rate their boxes.second what is straight cut planetary and whats the advantage.last does Neals build a box to suit an rb or would i need to modify it when it arrives. cheers donk

Also, buying a box rated to 800hp, then throwing 1000hp at it and complaining to the guy when your box breaks will be fun. I had an auto builder trying to push back on me that my engine was exceeding his gearbox strength recommendation... until I showed him the engine dyno print.
