12-03-10, 07:26 GMT+10#67 $$ of fines. where when who. what laws are being pursued. and links to news articles. it would be an informative thread but would never happen.
like that article about the coipper in dandenong who got out of his car to stop a small skid meet by standing in the road to stop a vehicle. the car reportedly wouldn't stop so the policeman stepped aside and attempted to "slap" the back of the car to "get their attention". his hand went through the window of a moving car and got cut up pretty bad sop now they are pursuing the guy for injuring an officer.
now lets look at the "facts"
we all know because lets be honest 99% of us have been in a run from the cops situation that how it goes is the police come in, if they do not have resources to lock down the situation through roadblocks they just disperse the revellers while gathering number plates.
so in that case this officer was outside of protocol. the offficer also slapped through a window. i have never seen anyone break glass with a slap it seems more likely that in a moment of anger that the car didn't stop the officer attempted to leave a dent in the car which backfired on him.
anyway i know that is just an educated guess as to what happened but as we have all seen the opinion before and it doesn't lead anywhere a collection of facts would be nice.

i doubt its revenue raising. this is actually a legitimate problem up there. it doesn't seem to stop and is out of control of any one organiser. yeah ok people don't get hurt but at the end of the day its a pretty minor step compared to the other hoon laws and i would disagree its revenue raising. if anything a lot of these people go because if they can get a passenger seat they consider the personal risk non existent. i am an example of this. by creating a fine it will deter the mass crowds.
furthermore having been a spectator in my own car at an illegal event and being caught i know that it is moorabin TMU's practice to defect all vehicles with at least a minor. not because the vehicle was doing skids or is amazingly un roadworthy but as a fine for attending. the senior sergeant even said to me straight out:
"now you know what this (defect notice + fine) is really for don't you?"
" yes officer"
"ok don't le us see you here again"

14-03-10, 10:17 GMT+10#69 I don't know how any body can say "they had survaliance for weeks leading up, that's just wrong", it's NOT wrong, it is exactly the same thing they do for any other Crime, IE: Drug dealing, Car theft rackets
Those scenes are going to played over and over again, untill the general public stop listening, then it will move onto something else.
Poeple that go to these things always say "there's no where to go, the Goverment should build us a Track", that is crap, a lot of those Cars would'nt pass Scutineering, and as for it would lower the Road Toll, you must be on Drugs, there is NO way any Track\Operater will let some one half pissed have a go.
I'm into 4WD's these days, and we are going through the same thing, some Clowns are wrecking it for every one, there used to be a time when the Police would let things slide, but because people take it too far, they now have NO choice but to jump on every mod.
As an idea, i was talking to some one about why they took their Cat off, the answer "the cops never look", guess what they are now
I wonder how many people there the other Night, knew the Bloke who killed himself, and his mates in that XR6 the other Month, yet these Knuckle draggers still go, so it dos'nt matter what happens this will keep going on, untill they take them selves out of the Gene Pool.
I'm not a Police Fan by any stretch, but while they do this sort of thing i can atleast see it as a positive, if you look at it from there side, they go out bust all these poeple, then as soon as some one points a Camera in there Face, they start carrying on about next week
Any one who did\will go to these things, atleast think about what MAY happen, if some poor bugger is lost, and acidently goes into an Industrial area, and one of you end up Crashing into them and Killing them

http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/hack/notes/s2841146.htm
listen to the gino's in that interview ffs, and the lady hoon sick bitch thats had her license 2 months....it’s the full sick ****s like them that make things look a lot worse than they are to the public eye..and the public eye and media thrive on this ****….but keep carrying on to the cameras and get your 2 minutes of fame (even tho u look & sound like a ****ing idiot)
i cant beleive people still use the excuse there is no tracks around, calder is an hour away for most melb ppl, heathcote is 1-2 hours, wow a bit of travelling if your spent so much $$ on your car a bit of petrol and time isnt going to kill you to get to a track...its all part of the racing side of things, look how far some of the interstaters travel to a track…
theres also how many other events on during the year that half the people complaining never attend no doubt...example here, and that’s just one…theres how many other events on throughout the year…
http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=188645
how many people that attend the campbellfield meets will attend this??? Very little im guessing, considering there will be 10 times better cars than the ones at your campbellfield meets, and 10 times better burnouts, and there is actually prize money instead of fines…..
Fair enough all this **** happens, it wont stop cos theres always going to be a bunch of young ego driven blokes that think theyre invicible, ive been there done that used to attend these meets all the time but back then the risk wasn’t as bad as what it is now, and the media/public attention wasn’t anywhere near as what it is nowadays, fortunately sooner or later these people will grow up then unfortunately the next lot of p-platers will do the same thing because its what his cousins/brothers/sisters/mates used to do and that makes it fine if u ask them.
Took me a while to realize these meets are not worth attending and im guessing some people just never learn, personally I stopped going when that Indian in the 200sx a few years back lost control and ended up through the crowd (we managed to get out of the way just) to many over-excited under-powered heroes with no clue, maybe you will learn when your still on your p plates at 30 years old or so..im just about to get off mine in the next few months providing I don’t stuff up, and im nearly 26, not something to be proud of fellas, u do get sick of seein them things in your window.
Im in no way painting myself as an angel as ive had my fair share of **** ups In the past, but there is point where enoughs enough, and that’s when u cant even drive around a mildy modified car without carrying a jar of lube and at least $2000 in cash sitting in the bank to pay the fines/clear the canary you’re most likely to receive, its beyond a joke.
These meets are happening how many times a week in the same spots as they have been for 10 years, time to move on and get over it, its still the same crowd sponsored by centrelink with no job to get up to the next morning most of the time, and hardly any highly modified cars worth looking at..giving the whole scene a bad name to go kick back with the boys and rip a few single peggers - nothings changed.

19-03-10, 23:51 GMT+10#72 +1 for the above posts ^ in reality, there will always be a hero out there pushing his limits no matter what. It's more so the driver who's stuck in his 'bullet-proof' car, making the decision at the end of the day. However it sucks how some of those people push it beyond, where the situation gets worse and makes it harder for us younger generation to enjoy the car scene.
Fair enough building or driving a high powered vehicle is a great feeling. But at least remember that it's a bit like holding a gun. If someone temps you to pull the trigger, you might end up shooting your weapon in the wrong direction. I'm not saying drive all grandpa specs, but what I mean is have your fun, but don't go nuts
What I believe is we need to send a message to these heroes rather then just placing restrictions on cars themselves. At the same time, show the public that not all car enthusiasts are hoons. Opening a few new convenient tracks can help the issue but there will always be heroes out there, until they've either grown out of it or learnt things the hard way. But it's still a step forward that could save at least one life on the road.
Have your fun, but you wouldn't want to end up in a similiar situation as this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBvKXDKO0Z4
just trying to stir up the mood lol p.s. check out the vl at the end ssututu
