11-03-09, 21:25 GMT+10#61 In my last VLT i had standard vlt set up. But had Bendix Metal Kings in the front and Bendix ultras in the back and better fluid and once again she pulled up after endless laps. Untill the head blew then it was all over. In the Standard VLT best i could do was 1.31 flat on bald street tires all round and taxi pack suspension. Epic fail!

15-03-09, 21:35 GMT+10#66 Ok update on today.
Well lets start with i had a shiz day. Went out 5 times and nearly every time i went out i had scrutineering on my azz about something. If it wasn't that my car was leaking fuel which it wasn't they though that when the guard touched an little puff of smoke came off they called it fuel... KENTS.. Then there was the mysterious tail light issue sometimes they worked then sometimes they didn't. Then there was the BIG issue of your cars falling apart.
This issue did bother me some what. I heard a huge bang at the bottom of the straight. I got pulled off for losing part of my air con system. This resulted in some pannel damage and a broken mud flap. Which im a little bit pizzed about. /\ It said OUT on it so i guess its not required????
Then there was the issue of me drifting on various occasions including 300 od metres sideways past the officials when my slicks wore out. Plus the fact i managed to take a huge lose indy/f1 car style where you keep the power down and spin like a mofo with the rears just bellowing bit like this
Anyway morral of the story is anything to do with VLT's and race tracks is its going to cost you money,
So if you have a front left quater pannel or a set of slicks or a mudflap or know a good painter. I AM IN THE MARKET. On the upside i did get some incar footage which is sic.

15-03-09, 21:47 GMT+10#68 That's cool man, You'll soon understand my traction issues. You can just hear the tyres spin and the revs thru the roof.. Dont think i will go out again for a couple of months, Till i have some rear suspension sorted. Now you have time to get yours sorted.

15-03-09, 22:06 GMT+10#71 No good mate, but what they hell is a vlt doing with air con in the first place? Next you will be putting leather trim in there and trying to palm it of as luxury. At least the car lost some weight and may go faster now, what suspension and tyres are you usiing on the rear?

There wont be any pleather in this puppy Jase. My car has a bad case of
body roll.
It has pedders spec FE2 front and back. Really only good for jumping kerbs. As for aircon i was hoping to keep it just incase one day it decide to work magically. Oh well i think it will be getting ripped out in way for a new PWR oil cooler. Tyres were Hoosier slicks. They dont work very well. Although better than semis. But i have only done 4 track meets and there now finished. Not a cheap option at all.

16-03-09, 11:46 GMT+10#73 Not a good day at the track, but as you said, it costs money, it doesnt matter whether your running a VLT, a 34 GTR, or a sigma as a track car, expect to outlay at least 5 times the cars purchase price plus more on track cars, even if they are road cars as well.

16-03-09, 19:13 GMT+10#74 I have no more to prove at this point in time with my lap times. I could fking thrash the tittys off it and probably drop to a mid to high 1.21 as it stands. Im taking a break to sort out suspension on the rear. Then i will go again. Fortunately i havent crashed or blown an engine etc. The main thing is im keeping consistent within the same second every lap. So thats cool with me.

27-06-12, 17:46 GMT+10#75 this is a old thread i found interesting as im doing modern regularity in my vl
good work xchase 1.21 is quick for a street commodore
my best so far is 1.23.9 only done three track days with my vl getting quicker every outing as i slowly tweak the car, brakes is a massive issue atm
my question is has any 1 done under a 1.20 @ Mallala in a vlt street car?
i think the Touring Cars vl did around 1.10s?

27-06-12, 19:20 GMT+10#76 What sort of power are you making? Thats quick as. I intend to go back out soon Hopefully in the next 6mths. Now it has another 150kws more than last time i went out. Also a full spool not an lsd and i can now shift gears hard as i have the built box. Also the cage. Really should do a suspension upgrade as its standard at the moment. When ive had enough of drags ill be back.
Aim is under 1.20.00 hopefully 1.18s
I think technically if that happens id have to then do sprints not modern regularity and id also need a different cams licence

27-06-12, 19:36 GMT+10#77 1.21 in a standard suspension VLT is huge effort! All driver...
I'd be keen on doing a modern reg day in the new bus if a few of the CT boys are planning on heading out...

on my second time out @ mallala couple months ago i broke my lsd and gearbox smashed 3rd to pieces lol mx5 box
