24-12-08, 09:48 GMT+10#61 I take it they're all external gate turbos? If so they're still a decent price for a quality bit of gear

Before I removed the turbo, I removed the oil feed line from it, just so I wanted to know if it was getting oil or not for the garrett I will put on it, there was heaps of oil being feed, that was not an issue..... the KKR480 was just a heap of junk! I took it to a supplier up here and he is planning to rip it apart just wants to have a look, I will NEVER fit it on again! JUNK!!!
It cost me $850 for the turbo, $150 for the dump pipe, more for silicon hoses that are now useless to me as Garrettt have a larger opening, and lasted 2 - 3 laps of the block, utter JUNK

that was only ever running at 10 PSI too always had good oil, and was bought brand spanking new too..... All I can say is I dont do KKR's anymore!

Did you check to see if the oil was flowing through the drain hose? Don't know the kkr trbos from a bar of soap, but it shouldn't **** it sept that quick unless there was somthing majorly wrong with it to start off with

Yeah, prior to putting on the KKR I had the standard nissan turbo on it, not an issue, from there all it got was the new turbo and braided speedflow lines and it was flowing oil too the turbo, and with the only change to the drain line was that it was upgraded to much better, it can only have been a dodgy turbo..... KKR is dodgy!

I would of checked oil was going through the turbo. No good it going to it if it won't come out the other side.

the turbo was getting ample oil, had a free return route too, but hey feel free to get yourself one of these awesome turbos!!! I think I will stick with the Garrett sitting on it now, I have more faith in it.

27-12-08, 21:03 GMT+10#67 I just thought If you had the engine running with the feed off the turbo to check it was getting oil well your turbo would be spinning without any oil. Even if a short period be enough to stuff it.

28-12-08, 06:54 GMT+10#71 Some of them turbos were actually built properly, some being like 10 out a 100 in a batch

the oil line to check it was done after the turbo was rooted, to see if thats why it died and it was getting oil, so it broke down with plenty of oil, they are rubbish

28-12-08, 19:17 GMT+10#73 well, some BIG China turbos might last for a little bit as it doesn't spin that quick, the tolerance of the actual turbo while spinning should be less then a thou to stay true at 130,000RPM, most of the CN turbos are around 5~10 thous. but if its not spinning to a point of vibration it will still stay true, so as long as its not really off and not pushed with high boost it should be sort of ok. But small T25/T28 size china turbos are bad, will not last at all.
