Whats that kind of hp worth in a VL time wise? Probably gain a few mph with a manual aswell. the .82 's do 400-410rkw pushed and the 1.06 seem to do 430ish rwkw pushed hard in a manual car. of course it depends on dynoes, yada, yada ,yada, thats what i have seen and in other cases aswell on other dynoes. The manual would be worth more than a 2 mph at that level i can't see why it woudn't be a 3540??? cheers darren

this thing must be using a massive shot of gas 300hp , if he needs a bottle, let me know, i have about 487 in my car he can use. haha jks top effort! sams looks almost excited to be back behind the wheel of a vl from those pics. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I didn't take into account rev's versus air swallowed with HP being a calculation of torque versus rpm. Bigger cube stuff swallows the air easier but doesnt rev as hard so you have a much higher torque value but not HP. The same turbo wouldn't make that kind of RWKW figure on a bigger cube engine would it? I was thinking if i can add up right I would start sucking the two 35/40 I have backwards at around 17 odd psi up high and would only make 650rwkw @ 7200rpm at most but the torque should be a silly. This might be a stupid question but how much more MPH do you reckon the stick is worth over the auto?

I thought it would, it would just have less restriction, as even though there is less revs, it is swallowing a ****load more air. And boost pressure at the end of the day is just showing restriction, the more you run the more restriction there is. I am pretty sure actaully that the original GEN-T kits with the 3540 1.06 made ,really high 300's(370-380ish) through autos on 10psi or something and they had a little left to give still. cheers darren

Less timing more fuel hot intake charge. The high dyno readouts with the Gen-T kits was a certain person trying to make himself look better than the kit really was.

Understand that, but ithought some other people made the same type of power with the kit(jake perf?), no?, what was the typical range they made? cheers darren

Its the altitude. The software in the DD dynos makes compensation. Low barometric pressure. Regularly see mid 800's. I will get shot for saying that though. For instance my bolt on 5.7 made 267rwkw on VP109 and 13:1afrs and about 28 deg of peak timing. We where really leaning on it though. I would say that would be closer to 250rwkw as I could only ever manage 112mph at the strip. Also if you dont strap a turbo car down, they tend to read 20rwkw higher Gen-TT common rwkw levels was anywhere from 300rwkw to 340rwkw. If you screw it into them with timing and good fuel you will see 360 or so. TTR sized turbos with C16 or better have seen up to 460rwkw on a stock motor. Gen-T was around 330rwkw in the real world on the 35/40. When they moved to the T51r you could drag up to 450rwkw out of them. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

of course there is, otherwise don't you think all the workshops would pump out 9sec manuals?

That is an awsum result. I wouldnt have thought a 35/40 would get a car of VL weight to 141!

Sorry for the 3 year old thread bump but did this car ever crack the 9 second bracket with a cage?
