26-10-08, 06:09 GMT+10#72 Yes it can, mine is a 9" center carrier with VL disc brake axel carries welded on. That means it keeps factory brake/hand brake set up and all the suspension mount points are the same. It runs one VL V8 axel and one HQ axel to get the correct lengths. I bought it off trademe as a full-spool locked diff and had Tony from Steelie gears convert it to LSD and change the ratio. He said that a nine inch in a VL was a complete waste of time and money and he could make a factory one just as strong for about a third the price.

thats good thanks,i'll get in touch with him,um i know it sounds a over kill but i plan to make it withstand a bit of abuse i like the idea of going down the strip,so have the idea of a diff head for cruiz'n during the week and swap the head out the night before drags that way i would still have maybe best of both worlds provided i dont go to silly on motor set up?aaannnddd i know my 3 sons wont just drive it easy ha ha ha but truly i think i will be able to get better ratio choice, parts dime a dozen + easier to get axles

the diff only needs to be as stong as the width of the tires, divided by how much psi i cramm into them to get that PAPPP sound, followed by mum yelling out the kitchen window "get away from your fathers car".
I'm thinking 'air locker'

I agree, real nice touch! Looks funny when there's a 25 looking back at you from the top of a 3L engine.
You're really going all out with this car
