n/a auto 430***km on gas.
has a 2 1/4" exhaust and a bmc panel filter and thats all, also its running a bit rough, i was trying to get it to spin on a slick cement spot just holding front brake pressure, ah well, oh and it has a fair bit of extra weight with the mdf and doof factor + almost new tyres. it likes to chirp around corners though. i am thinking she will perform much better with a 180***km s2 engine which i will be rebuilding up and then turboing over the next few years.

27-05-08, 21:27 GMT+10#65 The chip wouldnt be dumping more fuel in, it would be taking it out through the mid range where the vl ecus run extremly rich.
Whats with the Multi posts lol

28-05-08, 11:27 GMT+10#72 i had a n/a vl 5 speed, loose traction first and most time's 2nd,
this might sound dumb, but how do you change the timming? ive read changing the time 20' if that is correct helps power with a na?

28-05-08, 12:31 GMT+10#73 Yes advancing the timming will give you more power, with 98 premium u should get away with 18-maybe20 degs btdc before it pings.
You will need a timming light, and u adjust the timming by losening the adjustment bolt on the dizy and rotate it.
It will feel more responsive.

and eventually melt your pistons... i had a na vl auto with a 2.0l diff(NZ) and would skid up in 1st and second but im afraid na's just dont have enough grunt to wheelspin in 3rd. plus having 16" walky rims would help a bit. even my vlt struggles to skid in 3rd with calais rims on, unless you get on the brake of course.

Maybe your full hectic brass button clutch is what you can hear slipping. or its your hand slipping on something else or its a N/A. Or your running it on Nitromethanol or or or ya just full of ****.

28-05-08, 13:33 GMT+10#76 maybe he's talking about turning third when turning?? would be easy enough to do lol they're pretty light in the back end.
i'd love a high comp twin cam 30 lol, would make pretty decent power with the twin cam head, big bad cams and as much comp and timing you could run with that new e85 lol!
end of the day though its just not viable when you can turbo the motor for penuts and its so easy to convert to more n/a happy motors such as the ecotecs, 5L's and the like.
Oh and how did you peeps get them to turn 2nd? mines pretty stock std diff gears and if you dump it in 2nd it will turn for maybe 2-3seconds and bog down.
Thats with ****ty 205's in the rear. Mind you they were pretty warm by the time we decided to try 2nd lol.
