I think we should make a list of people who are definitely wanting a surge tank. These guys might be a bit hesitant making them up if only 5 people are going to buy them, but if we get a list showing 10+ people i'm sure there will be more people willing to make them which means competition!! better prices, better work, better value for money for the consumer Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

i have an original undercar surge tank that was offered on here a while back for sale. i have to say they are garbage, the welds were porous and leaked fuel, had to use some jb weld to seal it up (didn't have time to get it pro welded again, not that i should have to anyway), its to large in that it rubs on the upper control arm on full squat, it needed to be half and inch smaller in every direction to be a better and safer fit. the added benefit of if it were smaller is it would place less load on the mounting screws/bolts also, which are suspect at best. i don't drive my car very often, so i just keep an eye on it from time to time, but yeah absolute rubbish the workmanship and design lacks a little r&d. i was going to send it straight to duz360 and tell him to take the basic design but make it a better overall product going off what i found out. ohh yeah, not to mention the weld spatter/slag that was inside the can rattling around, took about 3 hours just to work it all out.

Yea im after 1 to in the next few weeks, so put me on the list. Hey what if you welded in a fully sealed, but able to be open box in the boot, that inclosed the surge tank (normal one). So technically the fuzz couldnt see it? And so no fumes leaked into the cab. Has anyone done this before? In my previous bt1 I had full fuel system hidden in the boot, but was always woried about being pulled over.

cool can't wait for it, hopefully we can keep the ball rolling on these and have them available for VL's to come.

Firstly as stated before i am now a Police officer so a second income is not allowed (long story) and shift work takes up alot of energy. These are the main reason for no longer doing the tanks plus a lack of interest. The tanks were designed to be a simple bolt in tank, i did not personally make them (as stated they were made by an engineering company) and were filled to 3/4 capacity and pressured tested to 75psi (well above what they needed to hold.) I still have mine fitted to my car and have had no problems with it, but as stated some people did have clearance issues. After lots of thought 1ltr was deemed to be to small as the standard intank pump could not supply enough fuel for the demands of a 044 on full song so by having a 3ltr capacity it allowed the standard intank pump time to catch up. Anyway, good luck to those guys making them, i believe it took about 4-5hrs for each tank to be made from scratch so it was a time consuming excercise, the cylindrical designed was not used as it was a difficult design to mount. Also as a side note people complained about the costs, due to unforseen extras i ended up loosing about $500 out of my own pocket to keep the costs reasonable. Im sure you are finding out that steel is expensive and the labour involved in putting them together is time consuming im sorry if people werent impressed with the tanks and i can now see why people are hesitant to do large scale projects like this for other people as the R&D phase is expensive when your not gaurenteed to sell any. End rant, good luck to those guys making them hopefully you have better luck than i did.

Thanks mate, I personally think they are a great idea, I'm sure many people need the insurance of a surge tank but some (like me) dislike the idea of boot mounted setups + smell. Once a few people hear about them I'm sure word will get around and demand will increase Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

my design would be a piece of piss to make, but got to much other stuff on my plate really to to be bothered as i wouldnt make much money on them if any(other then my labour) and also JDC is already making some up.

I'm another one who definitely wants one if someone does them. I'm a bit surprised more people can't see the benefits in this sort of setup over a boot mounted one. Also surely I'm not the only person with a Wagon after something like this. Anyway whoever is going to make them keep us updated in this thread please . Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I've got one of the original ones that were for sale and I think its pretty good. Only thing that annoys me is there is no mount for the fuel filter so it bangs agains the tank when I go over bumps. I'll be up for one of these new ones if its an improvement on the old one.

WPNVLT has almost finished one for me but i don't think anyone is too interested in mass producing them?? Real shame cause they are a great idea...

JD custom was looking into making some up, and i think Corran with the red HDT Nitron has an undercar surge tank, maybe he could point u in the right direction for one, i'm hoping JD custom has made a decent one for the VL tho cause i still need one in the very near future, just been saving to get the other fuel system and JD custom bits at the same time.
