Got a exedy heavy duty cushion button clutch installed 3 weeks ago. There isnt any slippage anymore. Clutch grabs hold of the gears really good and have been told that it is good for around the 300RWKW mark. The clutch pedal is alot lighter than i expected and doesnt feel alot heavier than standard. Its a bit harsher on take off but that was expected. As soon as i lift my foot(about an inch) off the clutch the cars pretty much in gear. Clutch can be slipped on take off but there is less room for error. The MX7 seems to be holding out fine with the odd 2nd gear clutch kick every now and then . Car was running like a gem untill about last week when it has started stuttering under heavy load. If i have about 3000rpm then gun it car is fine but if i have for instance 1500-2000rpm in 3rd and turbo spools nice and early the car stutters. I have a spare AFM lying around and will probably change that to see what happens. Hopeing it isnt anything major. Progress on the VLT will slow down alot because i have just put a deposit on a 87 berlina N/A which i will be using as a daily. Just waiting for the guy to get a RWC. ***in ring rd has ****ed up my front bumper and nose cone ect so will be good to have a new daily. I went on a little drive today and took some pics..... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

....Update.... Progress on the VLT hasn't really changed much but the problem with the stuttering under load has been rectified. I ended up taking the car back to JPC. The problem was that the spark plugs had fouled. I found this ironic because i changed the plugs and fitted iridium plugs. This didn't change anything. It turned out that the car required a retune. The plugs were also changed for a second time. I dont know exactly what JPC did on the dyno but turbo spool is silky smooth no matter what gear its in or what rev range so its all good now . Yesterday i was looking at my car and thought that the rims let the look of the car down a bit plus a few people have told me that black rims would suit my car. I would rather spend my hard earned cash on a new fuel system then new rims. So i sprayed the rims gloss black. 2 coats of primer, 3 coats of paint and 4 coats of clear were sprayed to ensure it doesnt come off. I personally like the look but i still think a set of VY sigs or VE GTS' would look tough. Prior to painting the rims, each wheel was sanded down using 120g(dry),360g(wet) and 800g(wet). Also about 2 months ago i bought another VL as a daily. It is extremely clean and hasnt missed a beat. Its N/A and auto, perfect to drive to work and back. Took me a while to get a roady and some reg for it. I also fitted a second hand set of extractors and got a 2.5" cat back exhaust fitted as the old exhaust was just rat ****! Heres some pics of the VLT and the daily. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

^^^Cheers bro, yer i like the look of them too but think the car needs some genuine hsv rims of some sort. They will do for now. For everyone wondering whats happening next performance wise, i am saving up for the following mods: 1: Vipec v44 plug in ecu 2: 440cc injectors 3: bosch 040 intank pump 4: bosch 044 external pump 5: either highflow the T3 or go GT35/40(internal wastegate) Im unsure about which turbo to use but ill have plenty of time to research and make my mind up while im saving.

Me? Sparky knowledge? hahahaha chris man i dont trust myself choping up the dash to fit the gauges + the **** i have learnt at uni most likely wont apply to fitting the gauges. I have rang up a few places already and all of them said that i need adapters of some sort for all the gauges. I want the gauges ontop of the dash above the centre vents so i think ill have to drill holes to feed all the lines through im not completely sure but ill let you know whats happening when i want to get them fitted.

Cool man ill keep ringing up shops i have already been quoted between $450 - $550 at EAS performance because of the location of the gauges. Price includes adapters and installation. But ill let you know if i ever become brave enough to attempt it myself lol

...Update... Got the gauges installed as i promised. Boost, oil pressure and water temp were installed in that order from drivers side to passengers side. The gauges were slighly tilted towards the drivers side for better viewing while driving. Blue LED's were used to light up the gauges at night instead of the normal globes that came with the gauges. Oil pressure and water temp are electrical gauges while the boost gauge is mechanical. The usual senders where installed in the engine bay for the gauges to operate. The oil pressure sender was fitted right near the oil filter. An adapter was used for the temp gauge where a section of the top radiator hose was cut out so the adapter fits in between. Now that the gauges are installed i can actually see whats going on with the T3. The car has been tuned to 15psi but it only reaches 13psi in second then drops back down to 10 psi in constant acceleration. 3rd gear reaches 15 psi and stays at 15psi while 4th reaches 17psi then drops back down to 15psi through constant acceleration. This proves that the actuator really is ****ed and also proves that bleed off boost controllers arent acurate. But theres no point in changing the actuator if im gonna get a new turbo. Also a mini turbo timer was installed just underneath the steering coloumn aswell. Everything works except that i cant turn on my alarm untill the engine has cut out???? Will have to play around with it some more. Anyways heres some pics...... excuse the dirty windows. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Thanks pumba. I have changed my mind in terms of what happens next. Im going to minispool the diff before this car gets some serious power behind it. The LSD is single spinning on me almost every time i punch it. Car has been breaking traction with ease but only because the diff centre has had enough. When it LS' properly the car breaks traction but then regains traction through acceleration. Im sure that if i put any more power through this car the diff will single spin 100% of the time, thus the decision to go mini spool. The diff isnt making any whining noises or anything just the centre is ***ed. I also reckon it would be better to familiarise myself with the minispool with 200rwkw rather than 250-280rwkw once i get new turbo, ecu, fuel system etc...

Such a sexy looking car man...i love it. i got the same prob with my turbo timer...i mean i can set it from 10 seconds to 10 mins but i havnt fixed the alarm thing yet...supposedly you have to separate the wire for the alarm from ignition to accessories or something like that...Going to fix my one soon.. Just take it to auto electrician and they can sort something out

^^Cheers bro i had a good look at your thread aswell, your calais is sooooo clean!!!!. Yer i read up on the turbo timer thing and looked under the dash. I made a half ass attempt at doing it trying to find which wires where accesories and ignition but wasnt 100% sure so i will be taking it to a auto elec soon.

...Update... Got the minispool installed . Car is so much more fun to drive with the spool in it now. Its one of the best decisions i have made with this car so far, love it . While the diff was opened the axle bearings and seals were replaced. The pinion was loose as **** so it was pre-loaded and the crown wheel gear was adjusted to get a suitable backlash. Friction modifier was also added to the new diff oil. Despite the wheels being locked together 24/7 the car is still 100% driveable on the street.Ill admit U turns are a bit of a bitch but other than that the car is really good to cruise in. I have also noticed that the car is a little faster in straight line acceleration because of the extra traction which is nice. People say that minispools are dangerous but in my eyes there not as bad as percieved. The car is highly predictable with the spool compared to the LSD. Before the car would sometimes kick out and sometimes not. Now the rear end kicks out every single time . Keep in mind that this car is not my daily anymore. I wouldnt have even thought of a minispool if it was. Minispool FTW!!! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

...Update... Havent updated this thread in a while as i have been very busy working between 2 jobs. On the Easter weekend in April i took my car out to calder for a bit of fun. I went down with ****ty 185/65/R14 tyres on the rear lol. I couldnt be farked buying some tyres plus the car doesnt have that much power so i was hoping it would stick on the track and boy was i wrong!!! It was the first time i ran the VLT down the 1/4 mile. Massive wheelspin all the way through 1st and on top of that the time it took me to change gears was very slow, so it hurt the time alot. Even if i slipped the clutch on take off as soon as it hit boost it just spun the wheels. I managed a best of 15.071@96Mph but all in all it was a good day out. I also fitted a catch can a while ago so the oil wasnt just falling onto the road. After a while i found that the dipstick was getting pushed out because of the high crank case pressure inside the engine. Immediately i thought "Rebuild", but every time i took the car out for a drive it would idle and drive silky smooth with no smoke out the exhaust. So i took the car to JPC so mark could have a look at it. All it needed was some fatter hoses on the rocker cover and a bigger filter on the catch can, and presto no more oil all over the engine bay . A oil return line from the catch can to the sump was also fitted so i wont have to drain it anymore. I degreased my engine bay that many times that it took some of the paint off the rocker cover lol. Soon the car will be getting some stuff installed. Just bought the following: 1: GT35/40 with .82 rear. 2: Oil and water line kit with spacer plates. 3: 875cc seimens injectors with fuel rail. 4: Sard fuel Regulator. 5: 044 and 040 Bosch fuel pumps. I bought the turbo and kit off Sam(JNRGMH) and i bought the fuel stuff off Stix both of whom have provided great service. I should be getting everything fitted within the next month or so ill see how i go with work. The only thing that i need to buy now is a ECU but i havent decided what i should go for. I am aiming for around the 300RWKW mark and most budget aftermarket ECU's can manage that anyway cos i dont want to go all out for the ECU and only use half of its features. Anyways heres some pics car is filthy as the old lady has been driving my daily cos she had a prang in her car forcing me to take the VLT to work. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
