Yeah that's the pack I was talking about, it has more info on there now though!
There's that guy saying you can get it all cheaper though.. I was thinking I'd try look around.
And as time goes on I think about a camshaft and valve spring pack (saw a post about a crow cam pack on here somewhere) Then there's pistons/rods.. Lol I don't know how far I want to go with this.
Also need to decide what I want to spend on.. this computer is kind of dieing..
And thanks

That doesn't help!
I don't want to have to take it all apart again later to do more/fix it if it blows 'cause I didn't do it with the right parts in the first place. But I also have panel/paint stuff to do. Like EVERYONE has said before me.. it's never ending!!
EDIT: He says the piping is just temporary. But yeah, I thought that it was too high and that the pipe was just a piece of **** anyway. but there's a question about it.
Anyway, helpful advice, anyone? Haha.

01-11-07, 06:11 GMT+10#67 Irontusk = if i were you id do all your panel and paint and your interior then save for an engine upgrade weather you go the easy way and transplant a V8 or get a rb30et from Ebay

01-11-07, 09:28 GMT+10#68 that kit sounds mega dodgy.they use standard compresion at 8psi and with no cooler! mine detonates at 9psi with a cooler! and theres no mention of the turbo oil pump. the engine would last six months at the most.

01-11-07, 11:39 GMT+10#69 Yea I saw that kit too no mention of a fuel reg either, And no ic would be quite dodgy too. Try backing the timing of 12maneym, detonation ****s the pisitons hard.

01-11-07, 17:16 GMT+10#71 Yeah there was no way I was going to do it without an intercooler.
I think it'd be just as dodgey buying one that someone else has built. (Like the RB30DETs you see on trademe that are still running N/A pistons and rods, for $3000)

02-11-07, 17:53 GMT+10#73 I'll be doing it outside of my engine bay so I won't be too rushed, and I'm a mechanic (just an apprentice ) so if I do come across something that stumps me I'll just ask my boss about it.
Panel stuff is probably a good idea though.. sort rust out 'early' and all that. Damn you S1KVL, why do you say these things!

03-11-07, 06:06 GMT+10#76 yep i gave up on my Calais n/a the $ i was lookn at for a turbo conversion was just to great so i sold it for a tidy profit and saved .
so i guess im sayin get your wag lookin clean and straight and save for a vlt and i know your gunna say theres only a hand full of vlt's in new zealand and they never go up 4 sale
Yes this is true as i thought the same but i still saved me $$ in the hope that one day i would find a tidy vlt up for grabs thats when i saw the wag on TM ....the rest is history
just my 2 cents .......for what its worth

03-11-07, 09:37 GMT+10#77 HEH i waited 2 years to get my first SL turbo!!!!!! thats how log it took.
instead of a conversion you could always find someone with a genuine VLT engine sitting in there garage gathering dust as a spare *cough* hehe i can see mike rolling his eyes now hehe

03-11-07, 11:31 GMT+10#78 I searched long and hard for my 2 N/As, so I think I might do that..
The next thing I'm buying looks like tinted windows, $100 off for booking at Big Boys Toys next weekend. I bought some stuff to do it myself.. but I like the sound of lifetime warranty, as opposed to me ****ing it up!
Edit.. What do you guys think of superchargers? Haha. I don't really want to go crazy on power, it is a street car, so I don't care about hitting the power wall when it comes to mods.

04-11-07, 13:49 GMT+10#79 Add a Calais Wagon to the list! I put my nosecone on today because we had everything off to change a guard anyway. So it's all dent free now, but it needs a full respray still.
And worst of all.. the nosecone is still white! But I've stolen my dad's letterbox grill while his is off the road.
Started prepping my sideskirts too.. half way through a few jobs now!
I'll try get some photos of it with the nosecone.
Oh yeah.. I can't find the plug for the eyelid motor!
