Less tourists and I prefer the town and skiing to Queenstown Methven Very good skiing/boarding at Mt Hutt which gets the most snow out of the major South Island fields. Methven town is pretty small, old and has a few pubs, but night life isnt very good. A lot of locals and very few tourists. Also close to a few good club fields such as Broken River and Craggy Burn which are awesome if you get to them after a big dump, but only if youre an advanced rider because there arent any groomers or chairlifts. Methven is only an hours drive from Christchurch also so getting there will be easier and cheaper Let me know if you've got any questions because I've skied and spent a lot of time at all major ski areaers in NZ as I use to work in the industry cheers for the prompt and informed reply mate,i only have 1 other Q.Can you actually stay on any of the mountians over there,as in stay in a lodge etc etc that has the mountain as your door step.im sick of travelling up the mountain every morning and need to conserve energy for my boarding.lol

Whistlers good for partying and "when" they get good snow, but if your going all the way to Canada I would recommend going inland Your uncle got it jacked up on big tyres?
