28-04-07, 12:56 GMT+10#61 1. If you want to buy a R32 GTR, add another 10,000 to the price you
want to pay for one, or...budget for a engine build, if i had a dollar for everyone i have seen **** itself, i would be rich and it's $10G for a engine out/engine in build done properly or around 5-6 for a basic build.
2. You are defintly better of buying a really nice VLT for 15G instead of doing yours, you won't get nothing for 10G unless theres miniliar labour or secondhand parts. And **** building a motor, that a biggest waste of money, i would get the lowest km atmo i could find and bung a cometic head gasket in it before i wasted 5G on a build, that will probally never get leaned on enough to make it even half worthwhile unless you want to run mid 10's or under.
3. If i had 10G, i woudn't waste it on cars, but then i have wasted over 100,000G in the last 10yrs and worked some stupid overtime for it, so i can't talk, just now i am older i can tell you it wasn't worth it in the end. Do one car properly and keep it, and make sure you make up your mind before starting, mind changing wastes a lot of money.
good luck

30-12-09, 22:30 GMT+10#68 Yeah no offence to any of the guys here, but you can't go giving hyprocritical advice to a young bloke saying buy a house.. I know 99% of you have sunk a **** load more than 10k into your cars over the years and wouldnt regret any of it, I know I didnt! Time for a house comes much later, an 18yo couldnt afford a house and a car, it's more than just mortgage repayments - and who says buying a house or shares is even a good idea?!?! Houses are way over priced atm, and shares are ridiculously unstable at the best of times.
Ok so 10k to spend, you need a good gearbox first and foremost along with a nice convertor or clutch so budget 3k for all of it installed and a tailshaft included.
Then you need a computer as no mods are really worth doing without one, and if you shop around you can get a plugin style one installed and tuned for around $1500 that will do the job. Then you need some bigger injectors and GTR 444cc ones fit into the standard rail and can be had for around $150-200 and will support around 300rwkw. Id then go to JPC or the like and get a GT35 1.06 with the .7 front and internal wastegate and mount it to a standard exhaust manifold with a standard inlet manifold with standard throttle body. Grab a TX2 cam and new springs, full 3" exhaust and a cheap 600x300 hybrid style cooler and a LX92 coil and Amp.. all bolted together with cooler piping, wiring and odds and ends it will be around $10k and make 300 no bull**** killerwasps and run a high 10, and hose the tyres in every gear up to and beyond 100km/h. Have fun!

31-12-09, 13:58 GMT+10#71 Time for him to get serious and buy a house.... O and investments in shares are a long term thing. Either way he would have made more money then spending it on a car.
But then again, at 18, hell even now I still waste money on cars.....
