we got 505hp/480tq on the same engine dyno that was used by sydney speed supplies for there sm artical, with very mild standard heads (just did the short turn).and on an engine less than half of the price quoted by them in that artical(and a hell of alot better quality too). another mate on the same dyno went 630hp/610tq with his 14k 383 on pump. there is no way in hell i will ever buy from sss.anyone want a crank and a dissy?cheap http://www.msdignition.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7110 Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I should put my engine on that dyno! I reckon I would go 600hp I heard a stock 253 went 400hp on that very dyno. It must be true because I read it in Street Machine. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

that dyno is actually a pretty acurate reading one. the 505hp engine ran 10.6@128mph in full streeet trim, with more left in it

What he is trying to say from a marketing point of view is, it doesn't matter how **** the cranks are, as long as you throw enough money in advertising towards a major car magazine you can convince the readers of the magazine to buy that product. The point they have obviously missed is for every 1 moronic reader who buys a crank, he has 10 friends who will get told from first hand experience how **** they really are, hence shooting themselves in the foot over their long term reputation of the product. I guess that doesn't really matter as every year there is a new batch of 18 year old's unsuspecting with money to throw away. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

spot on silver_vh the reputation is so tarnished that they could be selling 600hp for 4k and it'd still take them years to get people to have a go... personally, i wouldnt have a go even if they were!~

You sort of got it, but the one fundamental error you made was underestimating the Aussie public. Since I rebirthed this thread there is a close knit group of blokes on this forum who for one reason or another continue slagging SSS.This is not a bad thing, as the phones at SSS haven't stopped ringing since this started. Every time you slag them, more people ring. All the enquiries start with "I've seen the forum but I dont care about what their saying ,tell me about the new crank".Basically you blokes are bagging a product you haven't even seen yet(and I don't care if you ever see one) and have turned it into their fastest selling item ALREADY!!! I haven't been marketing it, YOU HAVE! and I thank you. There is no such thing as bad publicity and when word gets out that, Hey, i'ts a really good crank for that price you guys will look dumber than you do now.Keep up the good work... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I Thinkwhat Sss Man Is Tring To Say Is Let The Opasition Do All The Research And Copy The Product.this Is All Well And Good And For Your Argument On Them Coming Out Of The Same Factory As Good Quality Products .well We All Know That The Cheap No Name Pies Don't Have The Same Ingredients As The Top End Ones They Make. Same Goes For A Crank. Do You Really Think They Can Cast A Crank Out Of Quality Steel ,machine It (acurately) Package It And Transport It Half Way Around The World For $150 And Thats After They Have Put Their Markup On Even If It Is A Small One. Teach Me ? I"m No Marketer Or Rocket Scientist

like i said, never been burned, so got no beef. but the fact that, you guys had to make a replica of a quality product, goes to show what type of research and engineering you do, and what understanding you have of the product.........not much! i mean, what the hell! seriously! that goes to show what the products are like right there. the fact that you have to replicate exactly, someone elses product, and sell it cheaper. just all sorts of wrong imho. it just really shows that you guys know what you're doing doesnt it?

Hey guys, im new to this forum, so please take it easy on me. I bought the so called new crank about a week after it arrived, Sydney Speed told me to wait for it as it was a much better crank than the old one, all i know is, they work, are cheap and i blow wrexy ricers all day long. I figured why not try it, cause for the price, i got the kit balanced, my block decked, honed and cleaned for the price of a harrop. I told my engine reconditioner to check it out for me and let me know if it was any good, before finalising the engine, and he said it was good enough and easy to balance, so i ran with it, and am happy so far. Cheers
