how about the worlds fastest GTR?
which is now held by Heat Treatments NZ 32 GTR?
this record came up fairly recently...
but how about the record it broke? when did the HKS R33 GTR (which "recently retired") record its quickest time? (etc)
some of the parts used on this GTR could be considered "stone-age" and it was a record held for a long time..
oh well, comparisons are fun, and yeah. food for thought lol
i really wish HKS fixed the car up and try sum other sh*t, ohwell
hks retired the car cause they think it is to dangers
and the heat treatment car has also been retired (building 350z) and it only beat the hks car buy like .1 of a second and the heat treatment car is full of hks goodys
hks are not really into drag at this point of time circuit seems to be the thing but they held the record for a number of years i wish they brang the car back or built a new one and set a new bench mark!
and can i ask what is stone age on the hks r33 when people are calling the sammuts car old school that being refured to the mechanical injection the car didnt even have a comp
and have we forgot that hks hold the rb record 7.1 in there 180sx not bad for stone age tec

I don't really follow many of these threads but I did come across this one accidentally. I thank all those that have made positive comments about my 300ZX. It seems like a lifetime ago that we raced this vehicle and my only regret is that we didn't see its full potential. We only utilised half the ideas we had designed into the vehicle, which, as many have correctly identified, was mechanically fuel injected. Some have said it had nitrous, which it did not as two forms of supercharging were not permitted in our class of racing at that time.

Man I watched you from the grand stand for 3 consecrative winternationals. You were awesome, and second to none for what you did way back then.
I saw records fall, Brett Stevens took out fastest Harley in the world one year, you blew Victor Bray away the same day. Just awesome.
Done very well.....

I know this thread is old but i think it needs to come back alive since ive seen pictures of Rajab's 300zx

Just a quick question;
is Laurie Sammut one of the Sammut Brothers but any chance?
The only reason i ask is because i sent Laurie Sammut my First Year App. Resume to him at Werribee Nissan.
There's some pics of the Sammut car in the '12 Best Turbo Race Cars' feature coming up in the next issue of Zoom. There's also a cover car feature you guys might be interested. It's subtle but see if you can spot it on the cover...

part of the fact is thats what kept them winning and i think it should be left to them if they wish to discuss this.
2rismo mate i have been checking my local newsagency daily and that mag isnt out yet whats the go.
i was more interested to see if they started and pushed the standard internals that's all
as in yes they used forged this and custom that or no we used standard this and standard that!
but hey, as it was 20 years ago was interested in what they used! as in technology has come along way since then!

Peter and John Sammut returning with new 300 zx! Aug 13 2004
Former super stock champions, Peter and John Sammut, have a new Nissan 300 zx being buily by chassis guru Murray Anderson. The Melbournians, who ran many a 7 second pass in DD/Gas, now known as DD/SK, will no doubt be hot on the pace of their designated class. The only three other DD/SK cars in the country are those of Mark Ashford, Bill Mouser and Daniel Camilleri. The Sammut's previous 300 zx (pictured above) took the brothers to multiple Nationals victories, before a horrific crash at Willowbank destroyed the car a few years back.

lol i dont think it was 1x7 jules they won back to back to back championships with the 300 i remember seeing a video of the car from stand still idling to full boost launch as quick or quicker than any of the current clutchless manuel vls and take into account it was a powerglide with transbrake and no nos and was versus the like of victor bray and all them guys.

Always been a big fan of the sammut bros 300zx
Any chance Peter Sammut has some other pics than the ones from magazine articles?
I dug this information up from my old website. It was a record of how many events we won at the time and a little about some of the stuff we pioneered in Australia etc etc. Just for some info, nothing more, since some people have asked. Peter
'While Sammut Racing Products has been involved with numerous race teams in all forms of motorsport, it has owned, developed and raced Championship Drag Racing vehicles of its own since inception. Each vehicle has delivered numerous Championship wins and set a range of records. The list of wins are too numerous to list individually, but are summarised below, as are a range of other achievements.
Many of the current trends in Australian Championship Drag Racing were pioneered or heavily influenced by the Sammut Racing team, such as the proliferation of on-board data acquisition, speed sensing from fifth wheels, driver to crew radio communication systems, stand-alone digital exhaust temperature indicators, successful use of turbocharged Japanese high-tech engines and the use of Weather Stations for computing air density changes and the subsequent fuel changes required. Another first, that is happening now, is the Australian and world trend to monitor the dynamic output of high powered magneto ignition systems with the Sammut Racing Products Magneto Output Sensor. Under development now is the drag racing combustion pressure analyser.
Summary of major achievements by the Sammut Racing Team in Australian National Championship Drag Racing:
Winners of 34 National Open Championship events
Runners Up at 12 National Open Championship events
Winners of 14 Australian Drag Racing Series rounds
 5 Gold Christmas Trees
83% rate of being in Finals for Championship events
74% win rate when in Finals
4 times winners of Best Engineered Car
6 times winners of Best Presented Car and Crew
 Holders of 12 Track Records
 Holders of 9 National Records
Have been Australian Driver Team of the Year, Victorian Champions numerous times and Australian Champions
First 7 second time in Australia for DD/G
Set National ET and Speed record for DD/G in 1999 and still hold it today'
Yes that is true. 2001 Winternationals at Willowbank. A racing accident. I was very lucky. Thankfully the car and safety equipment all worked very well in the accident.
can i ask why u havn't gone into building engines etc for the vl's skylines etc building rb30's rb25/30's rb26/30 's etc
as u guys clearly have the knowledge for a long time!
did u ever see how far u could push the standard internals of the rb30?
