this whole anti ford thing is quite funny. what would be the problem anyway? can you guys tell me the last time holden put a "holden engineered" engine into one of their cars?? w00t lets drop a 202i into the vl, so much technology and engineering there - or the good ol 5.0?? other then that, holden is nothing but a rebadged chev/buick.. they are good at redesigning the wheel but if they had to start from scratch do you honestly think they would be anywhere?
this guy (whoever has proposed this conversion) has had a genuine and capable thought of putting the ford motor in his VL - far more to say than most users on here, which seems that originality really is a rarity.
YEP: craig said the conversion would cost 6k which sounds more than reasonable, he didnt say to what extent he was referring to. To convert the car you have to do what?? make engine mounts and any nescessary k frame adjustments, get a tailshaft made for it.. what else?? he could use most of the factory xr6t article anyway (cooler - no pumping, ecu, hardnesses, etc), bash the firewall of whatever you need to do to fit the box, if you wrote down a checklist you would find that it may be a big job, but not impossible nor difficult for someone whos technically minded in that sence.
anyway, best of luck to whoever is going the job - have fun and post pics when its done!

I wonder if VL fans will be happy taking the VL Turbo RB30 Motor into a BA no no can see fist fights between Holden & Ford
Holden have never designed there own Engine still living in Dinosaur technology in the 1980's thanks to Nissan they got somewhere

What flaws or weaknesses do you speak of troy?? I know the engine is perfectly reliable up to 400rwkw with stock reciprocating components, and I know of at least 3 turbo ford engines, my own, anthony briggs cortina, and mark williams cortina, that have all made over 650hp at the crank on stock rods and cast pistons. Sh1t, briggsy ran about 300 passes with a best of 9.6 with his cortina on stock rods and ACL duralites and it made a weight shifted 750+hp!!!!! If they do break easy, I'd like to know what exactly it is.

who cares about whos engines who`s and all that crap 90% of parts for cars are made in japan/china etc.
there is no such thing as a fully australian car so really it doesn`t matter what motor goes in what car cos it`s not aussie.
i don`t think there is one car that every part is made in the same country is there?

yeh but who pays for the manufacturing of the item? youll buy something for its use, certain features or specification, thats what you pay for. japan/china dont engineer these items - they mearly assemble it. thats not to say that something designed here in australia is not australian for where the components or units are manufactured.

Actually, I think Holdens are more re-badged Opels then anything.
Theres one thing Ford has over Holden though and that is atleast their (Ford) first production rwd 6 Turbo used one of their own engines, Holden had to go to Nissan for theirs.
Also wasnt the VT 5.0L the last Holden that used a "Holden engineered" engine?

The 350Zs engine is the VQ35DE, which puts out 214kw, and is not turboed.
why would u waste your money in puttin a xr6 turbo motor and box in a vl?
the amount of money u spend is huge, u might as well spend that money on a RB30ET and watch that thing fly better then a XR6T
Brigsy's engine came from a car that ate big mouthfuls of water, it was trying to pretend it was a camel last time it flouded at the coast

Well judging by the dude, he must have alot of money.
Yes I agree about the RB30ET, but how many XR6T powered VLs do you see around?
I think its being done to be different, more then anything else.
