I just spent about 1/5 an hour talking to Jake (Jakes Performance) today about my straight gas turbo setup and where i should go with it, and the only concerns he came up with in regards to giving the b2s enough gas was the line situation, basically he was saying that i need to remove the lockoff from the apa tank and use the lockoffs on the b2s, and also he was mentioning that I will not be able to get the car gas certified if i run 2 gas lines from the tank?? Jake is trialling using a massive single line from the tank on his falcon turbo, and im going back in a few weeks time to see how his results went and see if that will be a goer. Basically the only thing left to decide what to do is the gas supply side and keeping it compliant so i can get my gas certificate. also, just a quick question, do you know if you can get your car converted to gas and certified with out having the engine running? becuase i want to get it compliance before the microtech etc goes into the car, then take to car down the road to Jakes to get wired up and tuned? cheers.

youll need it running most likly, can you set it up to run the std ignition system to get it certified and then set up your ecu?

yeah i could probably do it, but i have removed the entire loom from the car and from my point of view would be too much of a pain to put back in. my mate has been using megasquirt on his turbocharged 351 for some years now and cannot recommend it more, and i was wondering if anyone has had experiance or any info about them? he is a real cluey bloke and can build and wire a megasquirt up for about 500 for me? thanks, John

I might do some thorough research and see what the go is with megasquirt, my mate swears by it and has had great success using it behind his straight gas 351 turbo fairlane.

with regard to the gas feed from the tank,i bought the gas setup off an XF ute over here in WA that ran 11's down the quarter,it came with one large flexible line from the tank, not sure what HP it would take to run an 11 in an XF ute(who cares anyway,it ran good numbers)or how you check if the lock-off was taken off the tank?...point being it ran a single outlet. this was a street driven 4.1 with a ?T04/66,autronic efi,C4,twin B2's,ran twin GRA carbs on a modified EFI plenum....still have the plenum if you're interested, want about $100 for it this ute used to suprise a few people in hot cars when it passed them as if standing still......with a ladder on the rack!!!!

thats unreal! on not to sure of the plenum would suite my application as its going into a vl? but yeah it must have been producing some solid power to push it along that quicklky. ive always had a softspot for a 250turbo setup, would love to do it oneday.

What model converter is in the 4th or fith picture? I know you wrote it's a B2 converter, but I have a B2 on mine and the top is plastic with the balancing line offset to one side with an effective hole size of a bee's d**k. It makes the car flat spot on a big change of throttle position for about a second or two, and thats only at 6psi. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

You can buy metal lid covers for the B2s. I think they are around $30. and then you can tap what ever size balance line you like into it. half inch seems to be the prefered size. Also in regards to how i went... I sold my GRA setup and have gone the petrol way (yes i am a sheep i know lol). I love LPG turbo setups, but at the end of the day I personally think it would have cost me heaps for tuning to get it right (if they can, up here in canberra) but the main reason I gave up was i didnt want to get into modifying the tank to supply more lpg. As my car is being built as a weekend car for some fun etc, I can justify the price of good octane fuel, and the simple reason I can bolt my stuff together and go down the road and get a good tune, with proven combo setups from numerous VL owners, just makes my life that little bit easier. cheers

Sorry, i meant ~200rwkW bit of a typo. You can now get twin lined tanks, so that should help some people out
